I wonder what good there is in having 'friends'. I frequently get requests, yet I cannot figure out a single reason why to accept any of them. Surely, you can follow your friend but that you can do anyway, no need to be friend. Getting requests from people I did not even know to exist. As it is, it is one of the least useful (and most annoying) features of CoC. Please add a button No friend requests.
The flaw I see in this would be is your chat for only you and all your friends? And if that's the case then your friend's chat will have you and their friends and so on... wouldn't this just make another "global chat," then?
I've ALWAYS wanted this! Ive met so many cool people and after I reload CoC it's all over
If a person on your "friend list" is really a friend .. you have their kik, line, band, iMessage, Hangout or irc handle, and you can chat with them any time you want ..
Generally, if you just accept anybody and everybody as a "friend" in Clash of Clans, you'll have a bunch of random people on your list that you really don't want to talk to anyway..
No, I'm not going to be your friend just because we have been in the same Global.. there is no point in that.

Ever since the "Social" tab was added, I have maintained that it was just the start of somethig more comprehensive. No idea if it will expand anytime soon, but I think it is just a start of something that could be interesting. Time will tell. I still hold that most of the 2016 updates were for setting the stage for change in 2017. Could be wrong, could be right. Events are weak too. FC and FW are still pretty weak. I will climb back under my rock and wait for the update to drop.

Jokes aside though, new friends are made through Clash of Clans. It's a flawed system if you have to use two programs to play through one game. Most of the friends I have on Clash of Clans don't like using a second messaging system, because it's annoying to have to split the two things up. Ultimately if a large number of the players have to opt in to using a second application to communicate things vital to the clan, then there is a vital feature missing from the game.
