Troop Upgrade Tree Linked to Levels
Here is a good idea I had that I think will really help both the players and Supercell.
Idea: Make troops customizable trees, perhaps linked to level.
Why its Good for Players: More customization gives more power to the players. Example: one upgrade for arch might be increased range while the other may be increased attack speed. They would be mutually exclusive. This would give players more incentive to look for the best strategies and explore potential combos. I'm not sure about the exact details the customization would be, but one possible idea may be to give "skill points" at every 5 or 10 levels. Upgrading would NOT require resources OR builder OR time. This will also give more diversity to top level gameplay. Let's be honest, there isn't much creativity. A base gets 3 starred by witches? The attacked person copies that strategy and goes to 3 star other people. Soon, everyone is using witches. It isn't a bad thing to copy success, but its just what happens. This will make it more creative, as the talent allocation WILL NOT be public knowledge. (some upgrades may have visual effects, but it would then be up to the attacked person to do research on the talent allocation). Also gives some meaning to level besides boasting rights.
Why its Good for Supercell: Customizing a troop AT first will be free, but in order to "reset" skill points gems will be needed. I think around 25 gems would be a good cost to reset talent points. (The gem cost could also increase by level). This would not only make money for Supercell from people who change their mind, but also from top players. Top players will no doubt change the talent points depending on the metagame, or perhaps to copy someone else's attack (as talked about in the above paragraph).

Talent points linked to level = $$$ for supercell, More diversity for players
