Rushing your TH9, I'm bored

Base defense is also not about making it impossible to get the cash. It's about making it not worth going for the cash. You do not have to be a maxed out TH8 to make your base unattractive to someone looking to farm it. I just stick my TH outside my walls and I'm making a bet weighted very very heavily in my favor that someone will take it out before someone else comes along that will want to make a very spirited attack on my base.

I hit next on TH7 bases all the time because attacking them isn't worth it to me. Why drop all of my troops on some TH7 with purple walls and three level 5 mortars protecting their storage, when there are plenty of targets out there that are so poorly defended that it only takes a fraction of my total army to loot them?

Even if you do manage to clear them out, they are going to get a shield. They will then make back the 200k you took from them in a single raid. They can also do more raids per hour than you because they can attack easier targets for more resources using less troops.

I have no problem with the fact that you disagree. In your previous post you, however, changed what I was saying, maybe in order to sound dismissive(?), and that made it look like you totally misunderstood the point I was trying to make.

My walls are mostly level 7 with some level 8. No segment below level 7. And I steadily upgrade them to 8, but right now I have no free builders, since the benifits of wall upgrades will be lower than other upgrades. Walls are subject to a kind of diminishing returns in terms of cash spent, it still takes 2 wb's to break both level 7 and level 8 walls for instance.

I know that you will make money at aproximatly the same speed at level 9 as you did at level 8 if you entertain a certain playstyle (using all, or almost all of your troops every battle) and if your ability in attacking can keep up with the increased demands on your level of skill. This "playstyle" you are mentioning is very inefficient in terms of resources looted per hour of play. You are choosing a very inefficient playstyle and then saying that you loot resources at the same rate at TH9 vs TH8. That's all well and good, but that doesn't invalidate statements indicating that one's capacity to make resources is actually much lower at TH9. That's the primary argument against the upgrade. There's no sense in you mentioning your ability to gain resources unless you are trying to weaken that argument some how.

All defenses, not just walls, are subject to diminishing returns because you are farming not trophy hunting. After a certain point (reachable by TH7) it simply doesn't matter anymore. Massive loses from lack of defense become quite rare and are easily recovered from. You say you are able to keep builders busy (although 1.5m upgrades are actually relatively cheap), but you're doing it at the expense of your walls.

You could leave one builder off of defenses at TH8 and raid the same amount of time as you do now, but efficiently, and pour all of the extra gold into walls. In fact you even said you don't like to upgrade 5 defenses at a time.

Are you saying that you are not upgrading at expense of your walls at all? That would be impossible, unless you gem, I guess.

Oh, and that 1.5 mill was the cheapest of the upgrades I am running, it's not a lot of gold on it's own.

How did your game change when you upgraded to TH 9 btw? Got the idea that you were level 8? But you seem to have intimate knowledge of exactly how TH 9 works for everyone who plays at this level. I don't like goblin farming at sub 200, but I might do it again when I decide that I need more gold, and I like winning battles so I play at 1600ish up to 2000 or a little more, in rating and then drop down and start over. Sometimes even to about 1400.

And this is what I enjoy most while still being able to pay my bills, if you know what I mean? Going higher takes away to much speed.

I'm not sure why you think I think you're lying. I'm sure you aren't. I'm also sure that at whatever rate you are earning gold, that rate could be improved if you were TH8. This is really a no brainer right?

Of course not. Every structure you upgrade is going to be at the expense of some other structure you didn't. However if you are capable of keeping your builders busy at however much you are playing (and I'm certain you are), you would also be able to do so at TH8 but with an increased income. Since the builders are busy it stands to reason the extra would go into walls, no?

Barracks are pretty worthless as they slow you down and you don't use troops higher than wall breakers anyway. Upgrading pumps isn't going to give you nearly the resources that raiding will. DE is fairly useless as well in terms of benefits provided for spending your time on. The primary reason people put builders on these things, in my experience, is to offset gold requirements. A bit of a reprieve if you will.

No but it indicates to me that you are likely performing upgrades you could just as well be performing at TH8.

I am TH8. However the game isn't that complicated. It's not like it is very difficult to extrapolate how much the game will change with a couple of additional structures. I've been through several TH upgrades already, all of which provide more troops or more structures. TH9 is no different.

I know how many of my targets are TH7 and realize that those targets will suddenly stop being that profitable when I go to TH9. I also know that TH9 provides only one real benefit besides that goofy jump spell in that you only get 20 more troops. You don't get any troop upgrades like you do with moving to TH8. I'm sure 20 more troops is nice and all, but it's not a game changer. Furthermore if I do regularly need to use those extra troops that means it's going to take even more time for me to build them between raids.

What I don't understand is what being TH9 really adds to that experience. For most it means they get less done in the same time. The forum is full of complaints about it.

Yes. And in my first post I tried to convey a slightly different perspective, I am saying that not everyone have that experience, some people whine about TH 9, and I asume that they either upgraded much to soon or simply haven't quite grasped that TH 9 doesn't suit every playstyle perfectly.

You can still farm low ratings of course, but you are mainly looking for level 8's that think their gold is safe at those levels, and if you use the old style where you could use a small part of your army it will slow down considerably. It may still work maybe, but it will be much slower.

But if you play at a somewhat medium rating and like to use the whole army to crush stuff it wont slow down at all for some, just a little bit for some - but nothing to complain about really - and for some it will have a bigger effect. guess which of the types complain?

Just saying there's more than one type of player, some really enjoy everything about maximizing your gold gain, but some wants to smash stuff up even if the goal, of course, is to gain resources at the same time. Goblins aren't the blowing stuff up kind of troop really... And there are other types as well surely?

oh and whith my troops it's a difference of 2.5 minutes in filling the army-spaces with 20 extra troops. And I dont raid every single time I can anyway, so for me, who check my base maybe every 30 minutes if I am active there is no change in waiting time at all.

Two and half pages of two people arguing about Town Hall 8 over Town Hall 9.
I for one wish someone would have told me about maxing everything before upgrading to Town Hall 9.
I joined the forums a bit too late to realize the method to everyone's madness, my real life friends and I all are in the same boat now.

I rushed the hell out of it, I have Level 5 walls, Archer towers level 8, cannons level 9, Wizards towers level 3 and level 1 teslas.

I wouldn't recommend this playing style to anyone because nothing changed for me from TH 8 to TH 9.
I got the few extra towers and of course the crossbows (which are pretty worthless IMO they are only used for intimidation. The only change I saw was that my 150,000 loots became 100,000 and less. It's much more of a grind but it's definitely do-able. I've even seen a 250,000 resource base once and I cried a little inside wondering how much more I would have gotten if I was TH 8.

My level was late 40's early 50's when I made the switch. If you are are having a hard time with a TH9 than you are doing something wrong.

If you were to upgrade to TH9, I wouldnt consider it a rush upgrade.
Its a premature upgrade but not a rushed upgrade.
I would advise that you max everything first but at the stage that you are right now I would say that you are ready for TH9.

Just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont come back in here complaining about how much TH9 sux because we already tried to warn you. :D

I just hit the upgrade button last night hoping it would keep me interested playing the game cause those past few days i have lost interest playing it. im a lvl75 with about 40walls lvl8 and others lvl7 ; all weapons maxed except tesla (lvl4) and air defense (lvl4) so to some players i rushed it a little because im not all maxed. bottom line is, do whatever u want. if u were bored enough of the game that you would have stopped playing it, u did good upgrading your th, itll give u new goals to achieve.

people always wants to prove their point and say other people's point is wrong...

one reply stating you have different point of view is enough... move on...
