As many people have said I support this 100%. Amazing for changing from farming and hunting.

Awesome idea, been wanting this since the first time I re-designed. Hope this gets something going!!
this is a awesome idea!!!:D:D:D:D
This is an awesome idea and the pictures will also help clash of clans for the update as they already had this idea
You ARE a mastermind. This is a great idea and i cant wait to see this in the next update!!
i totally love this proposal.... request supecell to look into this proposal and a
I give this my full support. Great job! Hope CoC will implement this!
I believe this would be the dream of every clasher!
Cheers!
Great, This guy even made the damn images edit. You literally have to be stupid not to put this into the game.
I love this! I hope it will be integrated in the next update! :D
:cool:AMEN!! Supercell! We need this!! We need this now!!! Please, pay this dude give him a new job as the CEO of supercell! This guy knows what we want!!!! (P.s. At lease just give him 14000 gems or something!!!):D:D
I love it , execellent, awesome
The best idea.
very good idea , i love it and lets hope supercell will listen :) gj
THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST USEFUL ADDITION THAT COULD BE IMPLEMENTED!!! I love how you put all those pictures in it. Could you tell me how you did that? And also, this sill be very useful, but what about the trees that were in your base? They didn't show up in the base builder, so I was wondering what would happen if you placed something on top of one of the trees. Otherwise, great job! I really hope that this will be added soon.
GENIUS IDEA!!! PAY THE MAN SUPERCELL ( like 10k gems or such) then have him lead the development team and use all his ideas!
Due to the incredible amount of time and effort spent you either deserve $1000 from Supercell or get hired. Nice Job!
I don't think they can give every randome guy money for an idea even if it's awesome presented. I don't care either. In fact this idea may be "stolen" from Battle Beach that have a similar feature. I have wished that this will appear in CoC too for a long time. Anyway make it happen Supercell!! It would facilitate so freaking much. Especially because I have Clan Castle lvl 10!
Give him cred if you want, but the most important is that it will be integrated in the next update, or maybe in the one after that. Work your ♥♥♥ off! prioritize this before everything else except bugs! ;) ;)
Wow man thats insane I cant imagine how long it took to make those pics good job!
Great idea, it's always pain when i change base design =)
Awesome!!!
Thanks guys! Lots of new comments this morning :) MrOffTopicGuy, as far as how I made the images, I took screenshots in the game and Photoshopped them (trying to make the buttons, meters, and everything look as they do in the actual game).
As far as the trees go, I have a lot of them in my base and it was an oversight to Photoshop them out, but not a big deal :) It does bring up a point (which you did) about the potential problem of obstacles (trees, bushes, stones, etc.) being in the way of a completed layout.
I talk about this issue near the bottom of the OP and list some solutions. A layout can be saved regardless if a tree would be in the way of that new layout (as no obstacles are shown in the base builder). However, if you want to USE that base layout, an error message would pop up informing the user that one of more obstacles are in the way and needed to be cleared first in order to use the selected base layout. The user would need to remove the obstacles (or edit the layout) in order to use that layout.
Another option would be to have a button in the builder that would show Current Obstacles so the user could build around them if desired. If he wanted to switch a layout and an obstacle was in the way, the same process a paragraph above would be in effect.
Thanks for the support, really appreciate it!
Have you talked to Supercell yet?
New update is coming up.
Hopefully we'll see your idea posted in their thread. ;)
Yah but I speculate it might be clan wars. Alothouth this is a really we'll throughout idea and I do hope it comes into play. Lastly etching I find about CoC is that they are really good at eliminating useless stuf or things that don't really fit the theme and one thing that would make this idea a bit better is if it was a bit cleaner in details such as not as much screens you have to go through to get to what you want to do or making more detailed icons for each key. Much apreciated for your reading this ;)
Exactly what i was thinking too...i wish i had many more brilliant ideas like u haha
This is ♥♥♥♥ing brilliant.
Thanks for the input Thomas, but I don't think this idea has too many "screens you have to go through to get to what you want to do". Click a button to get to a screen where you choose Builder or Layouts. Builder screen lets you build, Layout screen lets you switch to a different design. But it might seem like a lot of screens with all the pictures I put explaining the UI and process.
And as far as more detailed icons, I'm open to suggestions if you have any improvements I could make!
Thanks :)
nice 1 +1 for u
Hey mastermind.... that's really cool!!!! why don't you create an app and make it avaiable in the app store????? I would certainly pay a few bucks for that!!!!!! If you do not know how to do it, create a website, but make it all avaiable for us!!!!!
Very great idea and thank you for your effort in trying to improve the game. Hope SC would consider this.
I know only the basics of making an app unfortunately, but thanks for the suggestion and glad you like my idea! :D
In the meantime, check out clashofclansbuilder.com to design a base (if you didn't know about it already).
this is a great idea. I, for one, hate redesigning my base because of how cumbersome the whole process is. Great ideas!!!
I wish SUPERCELL will implement this idea.
You deserve for the bonus! :)
Great idea and realization! You saved SC alot of work :)
Anyways i have to bring up something and i am wondering why noone else realized that.
WHAT ABOUT THE ATTACKS on your base while being offline?
2 Points:
1: Im sure u can save alot of time while in the editor, but what if havent finished yet and let the ipad/iphone by side and return after 5 minutes?
Solution 1: everything returns to the layout it was before
Solution 2: all items that wasnt placed in that time, will be placed randomly around the map. -_- (Bad solution "resources")
2: NO SAVING POSSIBILITY! You said some users came up with a "good" point, so you can save editing and continue later.... so i can save my editing without placing my resources and if someone attacks me he will only find half of my base :)
whatchu say bra?
You have misunderstood a little bit here. I hope I can clear thing out for you.
First of:
When you enter the editor, you don't change your village in realtime. This means that if you move something in the editor it doesn't moves in your village. ONLY after you have placed everything and pressed save your village will be updated.
If you save as an layout, your village will not be updated. It will look like it looked before you entered the editor. This means that an attacker won't only find half of your base :)
Now I can answer your points:
1. If you let your phone die or lay it aside for 5 minutes:
Either you progress will be lost. Or maybe auto saved as a "work in progress layout"
2. You can save your editing as a layout BUT you can't use it!
Lol. What an amazing thread! Supercell gotta hire you.
That idea is cool!!! ILL SUPPORT IT 100%!
its getting hard to make a new designed base without that idea, good job mastermind...:cool::cool:
By the way Mastermind.
Wouldn't it better if the, in your example, Townhall would disappear from the list of all things you can place instead of the "background turned from a bright blue color to a dull magenta". The list would be shorter and you don't have to scroll too much :D
Just a thought, what are the pros of the color changing?
I support this idea with 150%
I'd love seeing this in the new update, but if supercell decides to implement this they 'll need a good amount of time to code it.
This is going to be very helpful to re design my base
hope they make this 😍
Thanks for the concerns and opinions Paperboi! As to your main question, you would not be able to USE a base design until it is 100% complete, which is why I put the meters at the top. I changed my opinion about being able to SAVE a Layou even if the design was not 100% complete, so you could work on it at different times, but again, you would not be able to use a layout unless every item has been placed to prevent bases with less items showing up (and I list the problems that would cause in the OP).
Unless SC made an autosave feature, you would manually have to click the Green Check Button to save your base, otherwise you wuld lose your progress if the game shut off or you exited out.
Thanks :)
Thanks for helping me out by answering his question vinstic, you got it right 100% :) Really appreciate it!
I'm not town hall 10 and it's already a pain to redesign my base. support your idea 100%, mastermind. Hope it gets implemented soon.
Maybe this is what they are saving for the fan meet up
Fair point vinstic! The only reason I did that is so all the items still show in the bottom bar. That way you can see that all of those specific item(s) have been placed. It's very minor any not necessary, but it's a decision I liked although I would be perfectly fine if the items didn't show. For the purpose of this thread, I left the magenta colored items at the beginning, but it would be much better if they went to the end and the useable items appeared closer to the beginning.
Thanks :)
Hire this person supercell please
Hey im not sure if this has been mentioned here but i think it would be cool if you added another little button where you could attack your own base somehow with a cooldown of 24 hours. This way we can find the weeknesses and such of our base
I love the idea! It is great! You put a tonne of effort into this so I congratulate you on that. If this was implemented into the game it would be one of the best updates ever!
Great Post Master amazing Job and Yeeeeees I Like it
Layout saving is good option. So we can switch from farming to clash easily.
Germany loves your idea ! :)
Mastermind!
Keep on linking this thread to Clash of Clans facebook in the comments when they post something! I found this thread when I saw it on facebook :) We need to get everybody to like this idea and I promise it will be included in the game ;)
Seriously, Supercell has done fine with the game BUT it could be sooo much better its scary. This man just did the work for you Supercell. Now all you need to worry about is implementing it. Hop to it SuperCell! Open that check book up and hire some extra hands if you need to because this needs to happen. Bravo Masterind!
Please supercell. This is amazing
WOW!!!!!!! You have amazing ideas! Please SC, you HAVE to hire this guy !
I'm 100% saying that this HAS to be implemented!
Hopefully your efforts don't go unrewarded. Ahem, SC. It would be great if this got integrated into the game! :D
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you must have spent a lot of time and effort on this so great job! i can tell by your hardwork that you really want this and I too would love to see this feature because it would be faster and less of a hassle for me to simply open up this and start form scratch instead of taking my older base apart and putting it back together!;)
I have wanted this implemented for a long time and hopefully you just made that a reality. Good call Mastermind. Good work.
Agreed with Islander. This is AWESOME so Im bumpin.
Give this guy 1000 gems for a AWESOME effort
I would lovve to see this implented..
* Bump so its on top and hopefully noticed with the devs.
really really nice! please make this true! :)
Must be implemented c:
I think complex base builder doesnt fit the game model and will never be implemented.
its not perfect from UX/ interaction point of view — creating a deep menus for 40 structures of different levels and kinds will make a unnecessary mess. Another thing is that you are not considering their current building flow — huge icons on a separate screen — the idea behind it is that you still can do things on your tiny iPhone4...
Long story short look on clashbuilder — you dont select buildings from the menus and yet the flow is really nice and easy to do.
As to unfinished bases — it would make sense to create a layout first and then use it. If its unfinished, it cant be used. This way you can work on it and still play the game (get attacked etc).
TLDR
I think they should start with changing the way you place walls (walls are perfect for "tap to place" model) and letting people save layouts (although i am not sure if this last one will fit the game model).
Cheers.
Best idea ever I saw in this forums... omg it will be sooooooooo good!!!
all what you offered, is awesome!!!
Thanks for the input Lieto. While I'm not a programming whiz, I can't imagine it would be incredibly difficult to implement (would take awhile to make I'm sure and server lag could be a possible problem, but can't imagine it's impossible program-wise). Steve said a Base Builder is something they want to do. Whether it is my idea or a clashofclans.com-esque builder, people want this idea in the game (just look through the comments and response here and on FB).
But I agree, walls would be a great start, although simply allowing us to "only" pick up all walls and replace could cause a host of problems if not set in a separate builder window (not the main game screen).
Edit: And re-reading through your post, you state my UI would "cause an unnecessary mess" unlike ClashofClansBuilder.com. However, I think my idea (could be biased) is a lot cleaner for a smaller screen than the Clash builder, which requires a larger screen to use effectively.
I am judging from a UX perspective: 4+ layers of click depth is huge
~ Builder mode > layout selection > structure type > structure > structure level. And then there is a horizontal scroll since it doesnt fit on one screen.
Imagine a 12 years old (or even 10) doing it — there are no breadcrumbs of any sort, so once he goes deep he isnt sure where he actually is, lots of icons without any sort of explanation about their meaning (sure its one click experience but its shocking at first), tons of clicks to do something that is currently done with "dragging things around", while it isn't exactly super fast its very easy to understand.
And btw its considered that complex menus are better for bigger screens and touch devices should rather utilize multi touches gestures, dragging etc.
Fastest way to do it the way i see it is:
1. Builder mode
When pressed all debris are temporarily disabled and all buildings are moved to the sides and grouped up by type.
Walls are grouped up by colour, the difference however is that when you click on wall of certain colour and then on empty tile it will start putting walls as u click. Likewise clicking on existing wall of that colour will remove it. Clicking on other building will cancel the process.
If building is saved on a debri a debri is moved elsewhere later on.
2. Then you either "save" or "cancel". You can save unfinished layouts with buildings remaining on the sides. Alternatively you can "Save as layout" if they decide to go that way. The problem with layout however is that if you upgrade few walls after saving it you got a problem right there — the game wont know where to put new walls and it might end messing all your walls entirely. (imagine you wanted to strengthen your t-junctions and the game will just put them in random places)
3. You can still drag things in normal mode to do minor changes.
Smth along these lines. But thats just my 5 cents.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! This idea/suggestion is AWESOME, why didnt they hire you! I like your idea with the new base design( and i like the player profile Update even more better!)
Guys keep posting on this thread so the mods and steve will see it!!!!!!
Brilliant post - I completely agree!
Thanks for the re-reply Lieto. Like stated many times throughout the thread, this idea largely hinges on the server to handle such things. If it can't, then another solution would be needed.
I think you're underestimating some of the younger kids playing. This idea really isn't that difficult to follow with the 2 seperate screens (Builder or Layout screen, then one of either, not super deep), and there are clear exits on every page. One idea to make it even more clear would be to add a tutorial or more Info buttons.
Thanks for the idea for your Base Builder, I think it is a simple and good alternative without all the options. My idea would have a completely clear canvas and yours would move things to the side (like it is already, just saving some time). But I like your wall idea for #1.
I think the debris idea you listed could cause some problems, although I'm not against obstacles being moved.
I'm not quite sure what you mean with the walls problem. Once a wall is set, that individual wall would stay in that spot, regardless if it was upgraded or not. I've talked with some other users and listed some solutions to upgrading items on your current base while not in the base builder, and posted suggestions at the bottom of the OP.
I know there are a lot of pics on the OP, but the idea is pretty simple, simple enough for little kids even (especially with an info button or better yet, a tutorial).
Thanks.
Well deserved Name...MASTERMIND. Ill be expecting to see your Name in Red soon! Mastermind{SUPERCELL}
You work magic with your ideas and your Photoshopping.
You will make peoples lives easier.
SUPERCELL. Please read this thread.
Thanks Mastermind...The true Mastermind!
This would really help, I hate tapping my screen for hours designing a new base.
So you honestly think that 5x levels of menus is better then clashbuilder model? heh.
Only downside i can see is that clear canvas looks nicer but i doubt anyone would start building from the sides.
Also i can bet 1 cent that dragging things (clashbuilder model) with tap to place walls is faster then clicking through menus for every building. Why? Because you are not dropping 6x archers towers at once, when i create compartments i have 1 building of each type there, that would literally make me return to each menu at least few times. And for those who do drop 6x archers at once i still it will still be slower just because drag in drop is so much easier on a tap device. Anyways.. to each his own.
Obstacle is just a removable decoration so putting it to a random place near the spot where it previously was shouldnt cause any problems.Quote:
I think the debris idea you listed could cause some problems, although I'm not against obstacles being moved.
I mean that you will need to resave layout after every upgrade. Because if its not automatically resaved (which it shouldnt cause sometimes you drag things around and you dont want it to be saved) it will mean that saved layout with 5x black walls and 5x purple walls wont match new amount of black walls that you have and thus game will be like "i need 5 purple walls and i only have 3".Quote:
I'm not quite sure what you mean with the walls problem. Once a wall is set, that individual wall would stay in that spot, regardless if it was upgraded or not. The whole point of layout is that you can return to it after trying something different.
Imagine you had tesla theme park saved in your layouts but used triangulation for a while. Now you want to go back to tesla but 100 of your walls changed and buildings are all different levels. How do you want game to decide where to put those? You will end up with a messed up base at the very least.
LOL THANK YOU SO MUCH SUPERCELL PLEASE ADD THIS!!!!!!! I posted a thread like this, a way to make resdesigning villages easier, almost the same concept just mine didn't get any replies lol. but this thread explained it so well, thx so much! supercell, u gotta see this and add it. and give this guy some award hes already had 2 TREMENDOUSLY AMAZING ideas.
Looks like Supercell liked your ide very much, based on the new sneak peek
dude you idea was added to the game😃😂
dude your idea was added to the game!!!!!!!
Mastermind nice job! Your idea was added to the game! Can't wait for it to happen! :D
Was very interesting reading this after the idea was already implemented for the coming update! A lot of what you came up with was already in what we had planned, so awesome work there!
What didn't make it in this time:
Saving layouts for later use. We may add this in future, and we may use the builder hut idea you had.
Huge credit to you on this post. Was pretty spot on!
Kudos mastermind!
Still, this guy is epic. I hope you add saving builds later.
Its gonna be added it was confirmed! Good job!
Good job mastermind!
