Leagues?

I can't believe this hasn't been questioned before, but I can't see anything back further than two weeks when searching...
Why are we shown others in the same league as us??...they have no bearing on us what-so-ever.
It's not like we are actually competing against them...I mean in general terms we kinda are...in the sense of the aim being the highest trophied player in the game...but that's really only for a select few.
So the majority of us are shown a position in a league (which can be one of hundreds of the same league)...that doesn't matter at all.
All that matters is the league we are actually in, not who is in it with us.
It's not like we actually get matched with the other ppl in 'your' league either.

E.g. From looking at past screen-shots...when I look at my league, I can be in 23rd position with 1656 trophies. 20th has 1671 and 26th has 1646. This is what fits on just the one page. So, the ppl around me have quite different trophy counts...when globally there will be hundreds with the same count as me.

So, why can't we just be told we're in a league based on the number of trophies, and leave it there...why dangle the carrot of others being there, when our actual contact with them will be minimal to non-existant.

Or...

(pretty radical I know)...Allow us to attack those other league members whereby the aim would be knocking them down a league.

I still prefer the old global player ranking. It was at least cool.

Honestly, though, I really hope they are working on something to make the leagues, like the actual list, mean something. Right now it is just a random blob of names with no actual purpose.

exactly...it seems like a 5min job to just randomly bunch a few players around the same trophies into a league , which as players, we obvisouly hope will have some purpose, but is currently lacking. It merely tries to give the effect of them being direct competition.

i like the league list, whats so wrong about being placed on a list of people in the same league as you? i see no issue whatsoever. do you propose we use that extra space for a different page to view some sort of statistics? if you are then we could discuss it together, but all your talking about is how you want to remove the league list but your not providing an alternative.

I want the old global player ranking back.

What supercell should do is offer gems for the top 3 players of each league after the two week period. That will gets us going......

If it wouldn't be too much trouble could someone tell me how the old leagues worked? Just curious.

It's not an option I could approve, but they could also somewhat scale the league loot bonus based on your rank within the league. Obviously, it couldn't be a 100% scale, but something like bottom 1/4 of league gets -10% league bonus while top 1/4 of league gets +10% league bonus.

But really, unless you are actually allowed to directly compete with other players in your league (as in attack each other), there isn't much point in declaring who is in your league. They will never allow for that since it is possible to abuse it in theory.

I'm not saying it's a huge issue, but it's rather pointless for most if not all players in its current format.

There needs to be some form of actual competition if you are in a league.

The format at the moment is purely aesthetic...there's no purpose..apart from perhaps the ppl at the very top (I don't know, I've never been...are the top 50 ppl all placed in the same league??)...who they might actually be in direct competition with.

The only way I can kinda relate it is that, in football, there is the Champions League, that everyone would of course love to be in, and only a select few actually get in (of course, they are usually the ones that spend the money, but that's an analogy for another day).
However, most of the players will be playing 7-a-side / Sunday league stuff, or having a kick around with mates, and have no chance of reaching the Champions League.... However, they can become winners of the 7-a-side league they are in. If the league is in an area where there are enough teams, you can go up and down the leagues, but even if you win the top league, there's no progression beyond that...because that would involve playing elsewhere...which would be tough logistically.

If leagues do actually become competitive, then there would probably have to be certain restrictions. I.e. at the moment it's purely based on trophy count...but if you stick that TH3 Crystal guy with the TH9/10 guys, he's not going to fare very well. But on the other hand...it would eventually actually place them in their corresponding/proper league... so I'll leave others to debate that.

The simple solution would be to form the leagues randomly from your 1st attack (as it's done atm), and then once the league of 50/100 is formed, you fight to gain the most trophies, and strive to be top of that league. You don't move to another league until the season (2 weeks) is over, and then dependant on your finishing position you are rewarded accordingly. I.e. top 1, 2 and 3 could get gems...or you could stretch it out over all members to get a resource reward. which is similar to the Premier League...as the winners get like 15Mil, then it goes down about 750k per place.
I'm sure the amounts would be a huge debate again, but you could start at 250k of each (and some DE if high enough) and last place could get 5k.

There weren't any old leagues before their current form, but you used to be able to go into the "Top Players" tab and check your positioning. For an average player it was generally like, 10570th, tied with 473 other players.
