A catapult is a device used to throw or hurl a projectile a great distance without the aid of explosive devices. They're strong and powerful to attack.

How could it be that there are no catapults in the game? Strange that supercell did not thought of that before.

I've been thinking about this idea too! A catapult fits in with the whole theme of Clash of Clans. The reference art is exactly in the lines of what I have in mind.
Name of Troop: Catapult
Training Cost (in Elixir or DE): 30,000 Elixir
Training Time: 30 min
Housing Space: 15
Damage per second: 6
Hit Points: 150
Movement Speed: 10
Description:
An offensive unit that launches projectiles at defenses. The catapult is operated by 3 barbarians (included in the housing space & cost). At level 1, the catapult throws a bunch of rocks, upgrading it throws boulders, then flaming boulders. When the catapult's projectiles hit, the ground shakes slightly.
The reason this has a low damage per second is due to the reload time for a catapult.
When the catapult is hit by defenses, initial damage goes toward catapult hitpoints. Once the catapult is destroyed, the barbarians operating it will then go into battle as a standard barbarian.
Preferred Target: Defenses and flying units from a clan castle
Attack Type: Area Splash 1.2 tile radius
Attack Range: 4-8 tiles
Similar to a mortar, the catapult would have a blind spot for defending. The barbarians that operate the catapult would protect it (following all guidelines of the barbarian stats). To move forward a 2-wall space would need to be opened to allow the catapult carriage to move forward. The operating barbarians would help break walls as necessary and push the catapult forward.
I'm not good at figuring out the numbers - what the hitpoints, damage, cost should be. My thoughts - this is a troops that would assist in a battle, but it's not intended to last throughout the battle. Made of wood, a level 1 catapult is weak. As it levels up, the structure gets stronger.
