First post ever in this forum, I usually just read. I have been thinking alot about this and did a search but have not seen anything on "war reparations"?
What I am suggesting is that when you are attacked and successfully defend the attack, the aggressor (loser) should have to pay you reparations in the form of loot for the loss. (Not just trophies which some people care about and other obviously don't).
My suggestion is that there be a minimum "charge" based on some tier level (I.e. 10K gold/Elixer if same level, 20K G/E if attacker was one TH higher, etc) PLUS they should pay for any traps or mines expended. I think this would make the game more interesting and get rid of all of these "1 archer" attacks where the guy just wants to level down a league but ends up costing you a 20K large mine and all you get are some trophies. It would also make people strategize differently. There could even be a nominal reparation paid if they only achieve one star, maybe just traps expended?
It makes good business sense for SC as well because attackers will want to insure victory and defenders have incentive to defend harder so dollars will flow into upgrades.
War Reparations used to be the norm (Germany had a huge bill to Europe in WW2) but do not seem to be the case in the current PC world? Let's get them back!
