LEADER and ELDER chatroom.

I thought that having a chat room separated from the clan chat would be helpful for those clans that actually take this game seriously. When everyone in your clan see what the elders and leader are saying about kicking a player out, for such reasons, its best for them not to here what the final decision; and it is hard to read one another texts when the one possibly being kicked is spamming how they don't want to be kicked.

Adding on to the chat room, for clans that have multiple feeders being having a way to chat to the leader of each of the clan leaders, usual used fore modifications to a clan and what the main leader wants the feeders to do when reciting others. for example: if a requirement to join a clan was level 3+ archers the main clan leader may want to tell the feeder clan leader to change it so they require a level 4+ archer to join.

Another point that has been called to my attention. What if this causes tension between the members?
The solution to this problem is, that a message/notification, among the elders would be sent out, members will knot know that this message is sent because they will not revive one. in that case they have no idea that the elders and leader are in a private chat.

Having a chat for Leaders of among multiple clans(feeder to main), and having a chat where elders and leader of the individual clan where the members can not see the conversation can help out a lot of clans that take this serious.


Here is the New Idea for Elder to Leader UI/chatroom, that is User Friendly

I have taken the challenge to add the Chat between Elders and Leaders. I came up with two different solution to this idea, taken in account for the UI you mentioned.

1. i thought this one over very well. a simple addition without adding a tab for another chat. there will be a new addition to the chat, a button that represents the private chat, buy simply tapping on the button private chat will be activate. messages that are sent using private chat will apear in the clan chat, but only for those who are elders and leader. The messages will be in a color that is readable, so that it can be easily identifyed among those who are elders or leader. Private chat will remain active until the button is tapped again, taking the user out of the feature.
*make note that this chat option will be connected only to the clan. Global does not have this option. also this does not use another tab it uses an additional button.

2. OK Leaders have the option to send messages to the whole clan, what if, elders had the same ability to send messages back to the leader. the leader has three buttons. the option to send a message to the the whole clan, to individual clan mate or the option to sent a message just to all of the elders. elders have one option and that is to send messages to the leader.
*make not this is additional. when the Leader sends an individual message, the person resaving the message has the potion to reply to that message.

I really thought this was a great idea and i hope y'all use it in the next update thanks for your time.

I really like the idea and i hope its in the next update, but this is already in the sticky.

So I am the leader of a clan and I was thinking that elders don't really have a whole lot of recognition. So, I had an idea, why not allow them to send message to the leader first and if he\she approves t it is sent to the clan. I think this should be able to be changed by the leader to no approval needed or it needs to go through the leader first.

I am the leader of my clan, Nexus, and i made every elders download a comm app (several available for free in app store)
as such, all private discussion take place out there away from the eyes of the members

I agree with this but this is kind of useless in those free elder clans(such as mine)

This would be pretty useful - we currently use glassboard (I know other clans do too) which is pretty effective, all elders can get notifications on their phone/computer when discussions are started.

yes i agree that this might be important that is why there is a separate tab/it might over see the chat box but the private chat would have a different colored words when a text is sent in the chat. so it stands out while the members can not see it.

yes i know its as a sticky but the sticky does not talk about chat rooms that have an expandable option it i am adding on to the idea/ making knotice that this idea is wanted by the community and so far 27 say they want it and 1 dislikes.

I feel like this would just increase tensions between elders and members. The loyal members in clans which rarely hand out elder will feel a little isolated just because they don't know what is being said behind their back. There are plenty of great clans which have players just as loyal as elders without elder. Some people just don't want the responsibility of elder. I think a separate chat is a little over the top. If the clan is mature, it can deal with a situation without any closed door discussions.

yes that may happen, and i haven't dully thought this idea out to the fullest and I'm glad you mentioned it.

if that is the case, then there should be a elder to leader, notification message so that members dont know that a meeting among the elders and leader are not being held.

i have fixed some bugs that might cause problems when having this chat so i have come up with a solution to the members tension.

2. if "loyal clan members" dont want to keep secrets they dont use private chat that is why there is a Tab/private chat.

3. how would this encourage bullying, explain your reason. Genesis 1:36 "And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good." the point of this quote is that everything is good. now humans are impure thanks to Adam/men. Now if you put a gun in the hands of a evil man his intentions with the gun are not good. but if you give a gun to a hunter he can hunt a deer and feed the deer to the homeless, which makes the guns intentions GOOD.

This idea is the most important idea for clan politics. The people want politics (except when it involves money) and im sure Elder chatroom will add the sense of secrecy toward the eldership.

And new idea, Leader chatroom. Thats where ALL of clan leaders appear and talk and make alliance, etc.

are you saying that this caht should be among the feeder clans to the main clan? because that sounds like a great improvement if they update to easier for us to move people up and down feeder clans

Partly. Feeder clans can use the elder chat if they are allowed to.

But the Leader Chatroom is specifically for Clan Leaders only.

You can use other means of communications such as glassboard or kik where you don't have to use your actual name and work just fine. But an elder/leader chat would be sorta cool if it was implemented.

Ive already explained this in a previously comment but scene you didn't see it tell it again. using those apps takes you away from the game, where you could miss questions from the members that could be important. when you have a full can and they all talk at once you wont ever know that question came up.

1. This is not nessasary because we already have a clan chat, and there are no reasons to hide things from your clan. If you think of one let me know.

2. Thats was taken out of context. You said in the OP that regular members will not know anything about the private chat so elders can talk behind thier backs. I would agree with the addition with of this feature if the leader would be able disable the chat if it gets out of hand.

3. This a world wide social game there will always be a few bad people who will try and abuse this feature. Although this may be the minority of users bullying in clash of clans without the person being bullied being able to see it could be problematic. Although this could happen on glassboard and kik, if it happens in CoC it would become supercells problem.

4. Good point touché.

After thinking about this i think that it could be a good idea but it needs to be improved in some areas. I think that it should be that the leader is able to disable it.

Can you explain how i would imply this "disable" because i don't know if you mean as when creating the clan it self or having it at all time to be disabled. if you were to disable this feature your leader might not care and put it back on. with the feature on it means your clan would definitely grow and become more noticed becasue it doesn't just connect to your clan it connects to other clans with in the feeders and main.

I am glad that you all have agreed that this post of an idea seems to be helpful. i hope that Supercell sees this and takes actions to this in a future update of theirs for clash of clans.

yeah that is one disadvantage, because of those clans that do not understand how to operate a clan;usually those clans are filled with preteens so they don't know any better.

i was left with a comment on disabling features and i don't have a place to put one in the idea because it defeats the purpose so i am waiting on a reply to see what they meant by it, they weren't very clear.

As leader of a solid clan, i believe tht this idea is extremely good, and will help elders and the leader communicate in private! also i think leader chat filtering should be brough back/made

I completely agree that it would be nice to have a leader and elder chatroom for your clan. I don't really see where you would place it, visually, without making the UI look like horse poo. There's hardly enough room for a new chat tab on the ipad, let alone a smaller device.

Let us know where you'd like to put it, and what it would look like, mainly because I'm curious.

In addition, how are you going to create chat for leaders of different clans? How would that invite/permission system work?

hmm well that is a challenge. i would have to definitely think about how to input a private message without tabs or affecting the UI. i accept this challenge.:D

The big reason I worry about this is because I don't want clan chat to die off. I do like the idea of having a mail system for elders and leader though.

I like this idea and think it would be really handy, but I an also see where Steve is coming from about the UI problem. However if you look at the Global and Clan tabs you can see that they are unnecessarily wide - if you made them 3/4 the width they would still be a finger width wide (enough to tap on) and there would be room for one that says "Elders"

For anyone who want a solution for this right now (beware shameless plug coming) you can visit:

and create a Clan Website (about a 1 min process) - it has a forum with built in Elder/Leader roles so you can post just to Elders. If you have more than one clan you can either add everyone to the one Clan (the 50 member limit doesn't apply) or create a Clan Alliance website with multiple clans attached. In game would obviously be much better, but until they add this, it is a solution that works!

My main concern here, how can SC secure the safety of minors playing this game? Communication is a great idea without a doubt but in some way this can abuse, right?

I've seen Clans that has members well below the age of 13, this need to be looked at or monitor safely. I'm not criticising how SC monitors the Global but just being concern of many things specially when it comes to protecting minors that enjoy playing this game.

There are other instant messaging services that can do this, if communicating is such a great issue and won't affect the game at all.

Like I said in my previous post and your other thread, my concern is safety of minors or any vulnerable.

You said there is always a risk of adolescents, greater risk can be avoided? What's being filtered there atm are just explicit words and underage/minors are not being well monitored.

After thinking this over for quite some time this option can not work for this program add on. it just does not make sense for the new design or the old.

that the post wont get further progress with out any opinion on how it can change.

When everyone in your clan see what the elders and leader are saying about kicking a player out, for such reasons, its best for them not to here what the final decision; and it is hard to read one another texts when the one possibly being kicked is spamming how they don't want to be kicked.

Adding on to the chat room, for clans that have multiple feeders being having a way to chat to the leader of each of the clan leaders, usual used fore modifications to a clan and what the main leader wants the feeders to do when reciting others. for example: if a requirement to join a clan was level 3+ archers the main clan leader may want to tell the feeder clan leader to change it so they require a level 4+ archer to join.

Another point that has been called to my attention. What if this causes tension between the members?
The solution to this problem is, that a message/notification, among the elders would be sent out, members will knot know that this message is sent because they will not revive one. in that case they have no idea that the elders and leader are in a private chat.

Having a chat for Leaders of among multiple clans(feeder to main), and having a chat where elders and leader of the individual clan where the members can not see the conversation can help out a lot of clans that take this serious.


Here is the New Idea for Elder to Leader UI/chatroom, that is User Friendly

I have taken the challenge to add the Chat between Elders and Leaders. I came up with two different solution to this idea, taken in account for the UI you mentioned.

1. i thought this one over very well. a simple addition without adding a tab for another chat. the chat Icon if the user hold down the button for 3 seconds it will ask if the user wants to activate the private chat, Private chat will be read among all the elders and leader in a different color to identify it as private message. to exit private chat, the user simply hold the chat Icon down again for 3 seconds and it will take the user back to clan chat. this feature is only available to the Leader and Elders of the clan.
*make note that this chat option will be connected only to the clan. Global does not have this option. also this does not use another tab it uses an existing button and adds a second option to that button.

2. OK Leaders have the option to send messages to the whole clan, what if, elders had the same ability to send messages back to the leader. the leader has two buttons. the option to send a message to the clan or the option to sent a message just to the elders. elders have one option and that is to send messages to the leader.

I really thought this was a great idea and i hope y'all use it in the next update thanks for your time.

I 100% agree with your idea, its well thought out and a requested feature for a while now, but i would ask could there be an option to send a message to an individual member. So the leader would go to te mail icon, an click "create" (this message has no ability to send a clan message, clan messages will still be made through button currently in use) they then have a drop down bar to all the members in the clan, and a text area. You chose the recipient and text and send it to that player. Once sent to the player, he recieve a mail box notification, and the message will appear with the senders name in red. They can also reply to this message. There would be a 6 hour cool down for leaders and a 12 hour send cool down for any other player, what do you think?

Your making a great point but, I'm trying to keep this chat in "real time" but id does follow under the second option revised so ill see how i can imply this with out cause much data usage if the program where to go through.

Well a simmilar suggestion that i had heard from another player is custom chat! Along with leaders and elders there would be a custom real time player chat. What would happen is, you click the players name, simmilar to what you do now with profile and visit, and an invite to chat message will be sent to them. If they accept then a chat will be created. You would go to clan chat tab, and click an hold (as mentioned earlier) and the "custom chats" option will appear, when opened a list of chat created will be displayed, allowing to run multiple communications, to multiple players. You tap the chat you want and type away. This can work for; Elder to member, Leader to Member, Elder to Elder and Leader to Elder. That helped?

yes that is kinda what i have in the first part of the post. just with out the inviting part. the onply problem was i was told that with adding another chat tab and having that chat running the, "the UI would look like horse poo." so that is why i have revised the idea into 2 different ones just in case one fails i still have another one. i added your recent comment to the second idea revised tell me what you think. I'm not going to add time cool down ill leave that up to the developers to decide.

Yes, that's what im getting at, but i am unsure wether to make a new button (like mail icon), or new ta or just repeat mail back and forth, becuase with this there might have to be a full inbox function (folders, filters, inbox and sent box)

and may i please have my name mentioned in my idea? (Like Sleaydemon suggested: blah blah blah) :D

the private chat would work the same but it just have its own button.

members wouldn't be members if they were trust worthy. i for instance am trust worthy to my clan even though i only been there 5 days. on day one i donated 700 troops for the clan instant elder. anyone whos been there longer than me and is still member is not a trust worthy person to the group. just an example.

I'm really not sure how an additional button is superior to an additional tab - in fact in every way it is worse because:
- it is using up (much much) more screen
- it is another button that the user has to know about and work out how to use
- it is a new function altogether so actually most likely HARDER to code than a new tab
- it does not have good discover-ability or interface consistency (these are important when designing GUIs)

no offence, but you haven't solved the UI problem, you have just suggested another solution that is worse

This is a GREAT idea! After seeing what you wrote, I brought it up to the members in my clan. (Info below.) Everyone in my clan except a new member to COC, said that this was an AWESOME idea. So I hope this idea gets approved! :)

I play a similar game called Dojo Mojo on facebook (yes, another CoC ripoff).

it has elder chat and I find it a very useful too. For those in all-elder clans, it would obviously not make much of a difference, but otherwise, it allows senior members an easier way of communicating, without having to use yet another app.

No. Not true. Members can definitely be trusted.

In a serious clan, you need to get more than a few donations to get elder. I have been at the clan I'm in for over 2 months and have become trusted, donating roughly 1500 a season. However I have not been given elder because it is for the elite of the clan that have been there for 6 months or more. Elder should be treated as something special, not something thrown at a guy that has been at the clan for ONE DAY and only donated 700-odd troops. You call that trust?
Elder should be something earned with loyalty not bought with donations.
Obviously there is some problem with the way your clan is set up.

I do agree with your idea, though. It would add another dimension to the social aspect of the game.

yes i was told by supersteve that adding tabs would make the chat look like "horse poo" so i make a simpler version and that is the best i can come up with wit out using a tab. so the point was NOT to use a tab

I totally agree with you, I am currently clan leader and have 10 players that i can truly trust to have that responsibility, although i do agree that it would be extremely beneficial to implement this feature

poles last for 100 days so keep on voting i want to see the out come of this post.

Why dont you just share skypes with eachother or something....problem solved....

HOWEVER: This idea is awesome and would love to see it in the game! Keep creating ideas like this!

Honestly I would rather have another tab than having the private chat intermingled with the actual chat.
