TH8 - Trophy Push (Masters)

Here are the results of my TH8 trophy push:

Final army composition:
2x lvl1 Golems
3x lvl2 Pekkas
4x lvl3-4 Minions
6x lvl5 Wall Breakers
9x lvl5 Archers
9x lvl5 Wizards
--
2x lvl5 Rage Spells
1x lvl5 Heal Spell

Reached highest trophy count of 2651, promptly lost on defence a few minutes later.

I used Pingfao's TH8 base, which stopped winning altogether once I passed 2400 (aside from trophy droppers).

Here's base and final defence log (2 day shield activated immediately after reaching masters, cheers for the 1000 gems :rolleyes: )

I did try this, but it was a little tricky with only 200 army camp spaces. I used golem/wiz/pekka just because I was more confident with it haha

Very impressive, TH8 requires a ton of modifications to high trophy armies to be effective, so it is a very commendable effort to get that high.

Set an example! If your buildings are maxed, hang out around the top and milk the league bonus for walls. There are quite a few high trophy armies(that you'd of course have to modify) on the forums, so see if you can find a quicker army(practice on campaign). I wish the best of luck to you, and see high master's as doable, and champions to be possible with a shift ton of luck.

Your choice, I would say you have probably reached the wall for a Town Hall level 8 but you never know, you could get Champions league (I highly doubt it but worth a try) so I reckon you should try and push your base higher just for a bit of fun. But you can go and farm if you want, it might be a more useful way to use up your time.

Haha thanks for the feedback and for believing I could go further... I'll give it another few days to see how it goes, but I know I won't be able to get anywhere near 3000. I'll save that goal for TH9 hey? :p

You could probably get to 2750 at a stretch. Go for it!

I am using Pingfao's base too, very good TH8 base design.
I once reached 2170, then dropped to 1400 to farm.
I think I will go for master league if all of my walls updraded to lv 8 ( 60% now)

If I really wanted to get another attack in before sleep, I'd boost the spell factory. Apart from that, the troops themselves weren't gemmed.

Serious congratulations!

I'm 8 walls away from a completly maxed out TH8 base now, i havent had need for elixir (other than to make troops) for about 2/3 Months now, i have stupidly left my walls untill last.

I was going to stick about at TH8 for a while longer & continue to farm DE. Problem however is...ive always been a dweller at the sub 200s.

Decided to head up to the big boys leagues today to start my DE hunt & stumbled across you post while looking up new troop combinations on forums (as ive only ever been a smash & grab farmer).

I'm very happy to have seen this post, as i was only going to head to a certain range.

You've given me the inspiration to now head even further & push as far up as i can. (Esp seeing as i also have unlimited elixir).

Good work maxing! I'm still a little ways off, maybe 75% done with walls.. I really hate upgrading barracks, slows pretty much everything down.

I'm glad this inspired you to push higher! You'll really enjoy the farm back down (being a pretty strong farmer), everyone's storages are on the outside :cool:

Did you max your dark elixir troop upgrades too? I'm contemplating getting them done at TH8, but the temptation to upgrade to TH9 is getting stronger every day.

Cheers bro, nice to see other high level TH8s trying for masters! I too got stuck in Crystal 1 for a week or so and almost gave up pushing.

I presume you've also been using the gowipe strategy? As a general rule, always attack a TH9 (even if it is maxed) or an abandoned base. People tend to surround the Town Hall with xbows and infernos, so when they're down, there's really not much stopping you from storming in ;)

Losing a raid can be frustrating, but don't let it get to you. Take a break from attacking for a while should this happen, or you'll find you won't be fully focussed on the raid (leading to more losses).

Patience is key... Sometimes I spent upwards of 100k searching for a base I was confident in taking on.

Haha a lot of them were overkill, but they were still enjoyable to watch. By the end of it, I sort of just got used to getting flattened, so it became a matter of hoping it wouldn't be a revenge from someone much lower down.

Haha thanks, it turned out to be about 10k DE for every 100 trophies lost :)

That's a good point.. Forgot to mention that. Most of the time I had a random mix of archers and wizards, which I used to help get the 2nd star.

Very impressive! Leader of our clan used similar ways to break into Masters too.

Seeing another at TH8 make it prove it is very possible. I've got one hell of a challenge in front of me when our next trophy push starts at the end of the month.

Last time I come very close to getting Crystal I but just couldn't quite breakthrough. I was a newer TH8 at the time however, many of my troops - and my hero are stronger now.

Congratulations.

Max I have achieved was 2100. I am doing another push, just entered crystal 3.

At the moment I am maxing all last 3 barracks as I am traveling for 1 week (perfect timing as I hate upgrading barracks). But I have few concerns with pushing at this stage:

1. I am almost maxed TH8 - all walls maxed - but i am intensively upgrading my defenses. Once my barracks are done I will have all 5 builders working on defenses. This means I will be 5 defenses short all the time. That would not help.

2. My high tier troops are not maxed. I am upgrading golems to 2 but healer, pekka and drags are still level 1. Heal spell is level 1 too. I would use GOWIPE and PEKKA lvl 3 would help.

3. I am always on full storages, including DE. That makes me a target of choice (TH9 can still get good loot from me even with penalties.

4. My base is not designed for trophies. easy 50% by picking building outside and really dont want to change my layout.

Do you think I should wait for the push. Maybe when all my defenses are maxed and working and while I wait for TH upgrade, so I try to go as high as I can during those 10 days?

I think I mentioned it before, but yeah I boosted spell factory when I really wanted to get another attack in (say right before bed). I spent the down time donating troops to help clan mates with their push ;)

First off, great work maxing walls... I'm still going with them and it's slooowww

I never actually won a defence from 2400 upwards, and most were 3 stars with one or no defences upgrading. So I'm guessing having a few more upgrading wouldn't have that much of an impact on defence.

I'd actually recommend you get at least pekkas up to level 2 (and depending on your raiding style, heal spell up a few levels) before aiming for your limit. This would also give you more time to work on your defences.

Doing your push while town hall is upgrading isn't a bad idea. However my trophy push took about a month before I reached masters, so I'm not sure if the 10 days would be enough. Perhaps you could time your upgrades to allow for this?

i am not a fan of leaving anything outside — chances are they will take whats outisde and then got for whats inside.

if you feel like getting a chance of fast 1 star loss TH is still the best.

I think it would be better to just take the loss and use the storages as hp tanks for your town hall

A lot of people have suggested this (leaving town hall outside). It has it's ups and downs...

It really depends on how high you are, but once you're getting into crystal 1, people bring armies capable of taking on high lvl th9s or even th10s so you'd just be offering an easy 2 or even 3 star by leaving town hall outside

You could however, get super lucky that someone might just pick off the town hall haha

Looks like farmland ends at 2200. You'll hardly find anyone that high to trade cups for anything but a ton of DE. And even in this case you most probably will be 1-starred anyway.
