Leader can set clan governing type
If you really want to set up some new and exciting social features, let leaders select governing types for the clan. These settings then create varying rank types.
Dictatorship - Leader, cos, elders (current system).
Democracy - clan yearly votes on leader and quarterly on co leader positions. Elders remain the same unless promoted to leaders. Leaders set elders but not other leaders. Different ranks votes have more weight than others. Only can cast single votes.
Socialist - no one promotes anyone. Game automatically promotes players after a certain amount of time (elder = 4 months, co = 8 months, leader changes between cos each month).
Something like that anyway.
Again, leaders would have to set these governing types themselves. You have to have one and default is dictatorship. I think this would really make the social aspect of the game much more interesting.
Additional ideas. War loot based on government types:
- dictatorship - leader gets max loot then it is disseminated based on rank.
- democracy - you get what you earn (I know capitalism isn't in all democracies but you get the point)
- socialism - regardless how you did in war, everyone gets the same loot.
