I am afraid I don't have the time to read through the reams of posts to check, but in case no one has done so yet, I wanted to express my appreciation for a small heads up on the update, particularly the sneak peek radar. It may seem trivial, but just the understanding of, "ok, not this week" is good enough for me, and I am sure others as well.

Now, if they did allow for people to "freely" make threads regarding this filling their first 3 pages, wouldn't that stifle the other threads that talk about debates be it from trophies, engineering, farming styles etc, wouldn't that seem a bit contradicting? No it doesn't. The ship has been in the code for at least 2 years now and it has become a long running joke about if and when it would ever appear. If it does so be it. If it doesn't then expect to see it mentioned again and again with future updates beyond this current pending one.Quote:

I don't think there is going to be a new troop at all. I think there will be a change in gameplay or a new form of gameplay. Maybe a new level for a couple current troops too.

What I object to is debate about the effects of the update and changes within being crushed once it's out.
It's impossible to choose one aspect and discuss it in this thread as everyone is talking over one another - that is when new threads are interesting.
A good example is some of the incredibly well researched posts after the crazy th snipe update.
Specifically those about the massive changes in the coc economy that SC for some bizarre reason, hadn't accounted for.
After war came in the discussion surrounding the social changes was also fascinating.
Now though, it would be far far harder to have a good discussion and learn.
All I'd ask for is some leeway for intelligent and interesting new threads. Not, simply merging every post regardless of merit.

Wouldn't make a difference to me honestly. Lots of things I am looking forward to in the update including fixing legends and so on and so forth. Ship/boat is the least of my concern.
Ship has been in the game files for quite some time. Might not come this update either ... or ever.

Thanks lach and SC for putting a sticky on a thread where you give update like 'update still in progress' and 'sneak peaks won't start this week'. Nice to have a general idea what's going on, but at the same time I think the 'it's done when it's done' method is great at this point, no reason to rush this. I'm getting excited for how big this update sounds personally, plus hopefully this will help kill some of the stupid 'when's the update coming' Threads that get created so much haha

To me, it is obvious that level 13 walls are not coming soon. The denial of something that is clearly not coming soon is a form of expression that is used for entertainment. It denotes that either the speaker does not have the info to share or they are not allowed to share any info. Let me explain this better: let's say there is playoff that consists of 20 teams and somebody comes and say, "all i can tell you is that the team ranked 20th at the bottom will not win", he is really not telling you anything you do not know. It is very clear that the weakest team from the 20 teams will not win the championship. Likewise, walls lvl 13 are not coming and so is TH12. You do not need the moderators, or supercell to tell you this information. It is too early for th12. But what it tells you that the mods are not ready to share info about the update yet. Let me take this thought further.
The impression i am receiving about this update is not that it is just massive in impact and effect, but in particular it is massive in the development effort. The thing to point out is that relationship between the size of development in software engineering to the time of completion is not constant. This can be confusing to other people who come from other engineering disciplines and even other IT disciplines. If a project of size "x" takes "t" time to complete, then one should expect that double x will take double t. That is true in other engineering disciplines and even in manufacturing; but not software development. This explains, in part, why Anoushka was not able to give an ETA and why the moderators cannot say anything.
Furthermore, i do not believe the development team are in a position to make any such commitment. In certain aspect, this massive effort might be a new experience for them which is different from the normal updates. More than 5 years of history imply new developers, new technology, and more importantly more hunger from the user base for more aggressive features that are different from the norm.
Moreover, no doubt that the clash of clans team are really considering the famous december 2015 update. They are probably thinking of the consequences of sharing information early and how that lead to major issues in this forum. Does the user base possess the maturity and understanding to process such early info. the december 2015 update suggests otherwise. It seems it is better to take the time and release the info when it can be handled appropriately. Galadon suggested that there is an aspect of the update that might take some of the players out of their comfort zone. This is of course a good news for those who are looking for renewal and for new excitement. But it does suggest that sharing that info early might lead to an expected backlash from those who are happy in their comfort zone.
I appologize for keeping posting something like this every once a while, but i think it helps to have that "plea for realism" commentary.

SC - don't mess it up.
Maybe supercell should just do what other game makers do and not give any heads up whatsoever when an update is coming out.
Some of you weren't lucky enough to play pc shooter games back in the 90s. I remember several times going to log onto a server with friends and being denied since my game version was out of date because a new update came out without warning. Further insult to injury, was that in order to get the update; it could take an hour or more (combination of dial up modems and full download servers).
I think SC does a good job with letting users know something is coming without completely spoiling it.
I learned a long time ago to not worry about things that are out of my control. I'll be ready when you are SC, take your time :)
