First, think: "Bizzaro" :)
Unlike Clash Royale, which can be updated with all kinds of new units, spells, and buildings, Clash of Clans has a bit of a soft cap to things. How many more units, buildings, and spells can they really cram into the current game without some things becoming obsolete or redundant?
What if this boat is a way to take you to another "world" with a fresh start on a new type of village with a whole new roster of unique units. For example, the witches there float and summon bats, barbarians are replaced with skeletons (maybe with some kind of twist to them), and maybe archers are replaced with spear goblins (again, with some kind of twist).
This would give everybody, especially maxed players, a fresh take on the game again; more than mearly starting another village and doing the same grind over again. Perhaps there's even unique links between these villages which can help each other out.
Most importantly, Supercell's profits would skyrocket and activity would surge again like the earlier years -- it would be good business.
Maybe these worlds could have a theme to them like the arenas in Clash Royale, such as jungle, desert, or tundra (right now, I guess, would be considered temperate). Further down the road, Supercell could possibly introduce more "worlds" to sail to. Maybe the theme could be about other things other than terrain types. For example, this "night mode" idea that has been going around is maybe a more darkly themed, ghastly styled new village where the land is always in night. Again, with skeletons maybe replacing some units, different witches, inferno dragons, demons, etc. (Kids love that stuff too, right? lol)
Some hints toward this:
The "change village" leak.
"Biggest update unlike any other".
"night mode"
The captain's log videos are hinting towards "all new friends" and "changing roles". They can't be totally useless and without meaning.
No sneak peeks... because just peeking at some of the new content could ruin the whole thing.
Also, Clash of Clans has been losing a bit of steam lately, it needs to retake its throne. The current game is getting a bit bloated with content. For example, many of the newer spells are really underused and some would say they're even useless.
Also, update-wise, this allows Supercell to create steady streams of worthwhile updates as they slowly increase the townhall level of the new village and add new content to them.
