That's if the top 1000 players all gemmed them both to max AND if these players pay full price. Also Super Cell isn't getting all of that money a good chunk goes to Apple. Roughly 30%. So in your thousand scenario supercell only showed revenues of $1.12 mil.
The way they are getting the "15 million a month!" is selling $5-$10 baggies to the little people. If they were smarter they would figure out a way to sell more things at $5-10. A hellava lot more people are willing to pay $20/month on this game then who can afford to blow several thousand.

it would be very interesting to see the actual distribution of their profit across the average amount spent. i've read some reports that they are pulling in $750,000 a day (circa Nov. 2012) which is just nuts.

As fun as the game is, seriously, there are better games to play.
The game has a formula that repeats for every level. Strategy is basic, control of your army is minimal and the excitement factor gets old the higher up you go. More of the same, just slightly harder with more expensive stuff to buy all over again at inflated costs and longer periods of time to wait to get them. Over and over and over again!
Even the graphics aren't that great!
Really, if you are spending this kind of money on this game, you need help. It is a lot of fun to play, but not that much fun!
