First and BIGGEST issue:
No spell or unit of any kind lets you direct where you want it to go / target / aim. This would involve the programming team dramatically changing the interaction between user and AI. Don't see this being a hurdle they want to overcome any time soon.
There are other logistical uses-

What happens if you drop the control spell and then tap a building that a unit can't get to?
