Perimeter Of A Base Questions

Hi, well I'm TH8 with max defenses except for teslas (level 4) Air defense (level 5) and i was wondering is it better to put your exterior buildings/useless (army camps, barracks, lab, collectors, builders huts) close to your walls on the outside of your base or really spread out to push back the spawning for the enemy? I am farming in case that makes a difference. And all most of my walls are level 7 and currently working on finishing the core with level 8 walls. Oh and some tips on my base would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am town hall 8 as well. IMO i think you should push them out to stop spawning because its harder for them to start the attack properly and gives your defenses more time to retaliate and take out more of there infantry so there is less to get to your storages. :)

I've gone back and forth on this, but currently I keep mine close to the walls on the east and west side, and spread out a bit in the north and south. I like having my pumps and mines under at least a little protection. I may change my mind about this tomorrow... or today. Good luck with your base!

I argue back and forth on this with one of my clan mates constantly. here's my view:

The range on defensive buildings does not change: So spawning outside the defense's range won't cause you to take any more damage.

Destroying outer buildings takes time: Do you want the attacker taking damage during that time or not?

I keep mine close.

Agreed - keep them in close, especially your collectors, as any freebies will be picked off before they move into the meat of your base with 100% of their troops still intact.

I've recently raided at least one extreme example of someone who wanted to push the spawn range out as far as possible - they sprinkled bits of walls all over the place as well as buildings etc, so I could only spawn on the exact outer boundaries of the map. From memory, I got a two-star win, something like over 80%. I just had to be careful how I deployed my wall breakers. Now, I wasn't farming, I was trophy hunting, but I beleive the idea is the same... pushing out your spawn area will only defeat completely clueless raiders (so I guess it depends on how many of those regularly invade your base?)

Keep them close! You want to be picking off the troops that attack your outbuildings so there are less left to attack what you really care about! Give no buildings away for free, except your TH if that's your strategy

You don't want them spread so far out that they can be easily destroyed without coming under fire from your defenses. However, forcing them to drop troops further out is advantageous. I recommend a balanced approach. Keep the buildings within range but also space them out to increase your base's perimeter.

Thanks, Stitch! It's the product of tinkering. I liked Jun Liang's pokeball because of the centralized castle and the symmetry, so I started there. Over time I changed things based on raid results, as well as wanting to be able to move my TH in and out. It has its weaknesses, for sure - I've been admiring a lot of the revolving designs that are out there right now - but has served me well throughout almost all of my time at TH8. Appreciate the kind words - yours is actually the first feedback on it I've received in the forums. :)
