Lol, you'd have to get me a defibrillator if Steve got spam banned. Anyways, now that Ideas is fixed (kinda), we may see a move towards a nicer place on all the forums(unless Steve starts trolling all of us noobs:rolleyes:).

Just as I post this a new subforum gets put in, well done indeed(now I have to re-do part of my guide, thanks :rolleyes:I'll do it when the dust settles and in one fell swoop). Out of curiosity, would it be possible to add a hide, or perhaps a push back option on some threads, a bit too many closed threads makes it a little more difficult to sift through the ideas(maybe a mod option to push them back once they're closed).

I wasn't trying to bring doen the FCC... I really agreed with what you guys were doing (I joined in your peak), It's just I felt(as did the mods) that it was the wrong approach to it. Apparently any type of form is spam, therefore I think the concept of the 'nice form' may have made a point of there might be other action that could be taken.

Indeed, the ideas subforum change is a clear statement and a step towards a calmer forum. The same kind of policy could be applied to other areas as well.

For example, to people who complain about global chat bans, one could write something like this: http://forum.supercell.net/showthrea...l=1#post849082

I think there are some dozen "stock complaints" that surface on daily basis that could all use the same policy as "read the sticky-reply is a no-no". Most of such topics don't hold much conversation value, but to the one posting them, a properly formulated, clear and friendly reply might alone be enough to diffuse the situation.

In order to be like the ideas forum was today, the mods need to be really active in locking the threads and responding. You guys realize that right? There is no way the mods can sustain that level of activity long term.

I'm not sure why you think any option other than A will work. It's clear C won't work otherwise you wouldn't be having this discussion and B isn't practical.

Also I hope you realize that when the mods do get tired of closely modding the ideas forum, it'll go right back to how it was except people will no longer be able to say anything in response to the unbridled waves of stupid. So you'll be left with unchecked stupid.

Actually I think Twister and Steve are asleep and it's already beginning. Clan wars and donate resource threads are already sprouting up. It'd be nice if another wave of mods would take over.

It doesn't need a mod to reply to those threads properly. Anyone can reply a constructive non-repetitive answer to all the posts on ideas that would fall into the category of "read the sticky". Also, the thread needs not to be closed immediately if someone proposes the 637th time the same idea, it's enough to let it drop down on it's own AFTER it got the "proper" reply.

I think C is a valid option and I know for me, A&B have next to no relevance on how I behave on the forum. I will write exactly what I think & feel about the things I write about. No amount of rewards or punishments would change that. Sure, I read the "law" and follow it the way I see fit. But it's not from fear of punishment why I do it.

Clearly the fear isn't too strong motivation to some, either. All the flaming and trolling would not be around if everyone were following the whip.

true the fear of punishment is a poor way of getting people to do things,but it works and have worked for a long time, the reason C is not possible in real life and very hard on the forums is because it requires that everyone has the mentality that its how it should be, and thats pretty much impossible to achieve. yes writing constructive responses and helpful posts because you want to help is very noble but its a dream scenario, the correct amount of rewarding and punishing is not, its a very flawed system who has to take action a lot and C would clearly be better. A&B is just far more realistic. it sucks but thats life. we will always have trolls and thats because some people simply find it fun to annoy and harm others and thats the reason C just simply don't work. but use C for yourself and with time people will hopefully follow...

Yes, I know the forum isn't really the optimal place for re-learning. Still doesn't mean it can't happen.

I had a look on the ideas sub just now and I see your point about the mod's absence. You could also have posted a proper answer to such thread(s), exlaining the situation.
