Just out of curiosity :)
I am on TH8 now and i am quite a perfectionist so i was thinking of sitting on TH8 farming for black walls and barb king (which will take at least 3 months).
So the question is — how high i can get doing this in your opinion?
(if you have base layout for that you can post it as well :)
Before the leader of my clan jumped to hall 9 he made it to masters - over 2,600 trophies.
He was lazy using overrated tesla theme park though. I'm not a fan of overused designs. :p
Your base will not make a lot of difference once you're into Crystal... Only the incompetent TH9 and TH10 raiders will fail to get 50% on you regardless. Not that you shouldn't try and create a good base, but just keep your expectations realistic... you will get a high trophy count through good (and persistent) raiding.
Anyway, I'd guess you could get to 2600, but not much more - it depends on how much persistence you have, really, as the higher you go the smaller the % of winnable bases you'll find (I've only made it to about 2350 so far, but it's a work in progress). It also depends on whether you are prepared to spend any $ on gemming, as eventually you're going to find the wait between raids annoying and you'll get attacked pretty quickly once you log off.
For farming gold and DE, I'd recommend plenty of dragons once you're into Crystal II - add plenty of minions if you want faster build times, and you can still make a DE profit. The dragons tend to maximise your chances of getting 1-2 stars, and also picking up most of the loot offered; adding around 40 minions is just great for all sorts of reasons. But that's just my current preference, there are plenty of valid army options...
Once i saw a TH8 on global at Masters II.
I went up to 2100 trophies but mostly with a farming army. I was using giants, barbs and archers, and sometimes wizards too.
As someone above said, you really need to have strong nerves to wait for the long training time required for trophy armies. I did not have that and towards the end gave up on waiting even for wizards.
My personal farming strat for now is to queue
1 barracks - giants — 10-11
1 barracks - archers — 50-60
1 barracks - barbs — 50-60
1 barracks - wbs 8-10
Training time is around 20 minutes i believe.
Also i agree that base wont make a huge difference. For now i prefer to keep townhall inside during the day and throw it out at night to get a fast and painless 1 star loss.
