Booster confusion

Sorry if it was already covered somewhere but I don't really understand this. Here is the story. I had 3 boosters and was planning to use one of them the next day since I was already going to bed. But while just going around watering I got another booster from a red box. Next day, I clicked on the boosters (had 4 in total) but my only options were to either delete one or pay 2 diamonds. There was no option to activate one of the 3 boosters I had before the 4th.

At first I thought that maybe even active boosters occupy one of 3 slots but that's not the case. After deleting one of 4 boosters and activating one of remaining 3 ones I had 1 free slot.

Am I missing something? If that how it works then it seems a bit unfair. Essentially I forfeited a booster for nothing. Feel a bit cheated here... I don't always have a use for the boosters because they're timed and can't know when I might get one. They are also rare. And it's not how it works with other items. E.g. Gift cards - we can use up the existing ones before adding more. We don't have to just lose them.

To be clear - I'm not suggesting unlimited accumulation of boosters, but IMHO we should be allowed to activate a booster to free up a slot and then deal with remaining boosters.

Thats exactly how it works for me - I had 3 waiting for slots and therefore 6 in total but could not activate any of my 3 initially saved boosters till I either swapped out or deleted all 3 extras - seems so unfair.

To be clear I just wanted to use one of my 3 initially saved boosters and therefore reduce my holding to 5 but could not - so unfair

It would be nice to have a "Activate this booster now" option

It would be easy to just activate a crops booster or a production machine booster so that you could take on the new one.



Sometimes you really do not see the boosters coming!

I have swapped out once, then sucked it up and paid 2 diamonds to store on the 2nd occasion.

In this game we are kind of used to storing and hoarding all sorts of goods but get the impression it's best to keep an empty slot for boosters and to rather use some when you get them and only really hang on to the 5 star booster so you get the most out of them.

I do wish we could activate any of the 3 boosters we might have stored when getting a 4th though.

I have never had this situation but based on what I'm reading here I'm deciding it's best to always have one free space available.

Just want to point out that some boosters can't be activated unless you actually have say, Tom hired. In the case of the shortened nap time booster.

Yes that is true however you can always trash the booster if have no intention of hiring Tom any time soon.
Personally I wouldn't be hiring Tom especially to use a 1-2 star booster for shorter nap times. So chances are I'd trash such a booster. The 4-5 star booster however would me more interesting and I might save that for when I want to hire Tom.

I hope Supercell can find a way to fix this so we don't always have to keep one space free!

The crunch will come for some of us when the Derby ends. The horseshoe prizes are set up in such a way that we will get two boosters - there has been no option to choose something else in the 5th and 8th columns so far, in my experience.

I currently have two boosters. They are the same; free Tom for 13 hours. A great booster, but no good to me during the working week as I am offline all day. With any luck I will be able to use at least one at the weekend...

I think that we are going to have to manage boosters very carefully to get the best out of them, but it goes against the grain (for me, at least) to trash them!

Thank you, all, for the replies! At least it's not just me. :) It certainly would be very helpful if we could activate one booster in addition to swapping. Especially since we only have 3 storage spots and no option to expand them permanently.

It seems a little cynical to me to give you a gift of a booster but then basically say "you will have to pay two diamonds if you would like to keep present we have for you."
It may be just an oversight... I hope so. The obvious solution is to give you three options - trash, swap or activate. I don't mind using diamonds for things but it does gall when you don't really have to, as you have an activate slot free but no way if getting to it.
i like the free Tom and fill boat crate boosters. The rest I'm not really bothered about. Saving 10 per cent time on a crop won't change anything for me.
