Reinforced Wall T-Junctions
As you know, a typical wall T-junction separates three compartments. If an attacker's ground army breaks the single wall segment at the intersection of the T, all three compartments are open to each other. From the defender's standpoint, it would be ideal to force the attacker's army to have to break two wall segments in order to get into the same three compartments. What are the community's thoughts on the effectiveness of placing a spare wall segment at the T-junction to reinforce the joint? If the attacker's army breaks the single wall segment at the intersection of the T, now only two compartments are open to each other.
I have committed six wall segments to this objective with my war base as shown here. Attachment 199034
Jump spells and earthquakes make reinforcement irrelevant in one to two locations in the base; however, six evenly and well spaced out reinforced T-junctions means the remaining four should be effective at damage control. They make better use of high level walls in helping theoretically delaying and defending ground attacks.
I've just implemented this into three war bases and will report back the results in a week. And with the 24 hour lockout, I haven't had a chance to test it yet either in friendly challenge.
Other questions and considerations are:
- How many wall segments at most should be committed to reinforcement? For example, even if only one of my six segments delayed an attacker's army by forcing it to go through one additional wall segment at the end of a war attack, that can be the difference between two and three stars.
- Valks and wall breakers generally take out two to three wall segments. They may take out the entire reinforced joint. How should buildings be placed behind walls relative to the T-intersection so troops like valks don't take out the reinforced joint?
- Reinforced joints can also help create dead zones or hide bomb and tesla locations.
- Air armies don't care as much; however, this can stall heros used for cleanup. Heros can only kill one wall segment at a time.
- Do reinforced joints make rage and heal spells more effective for attackers? (Units are less likely to disperse out of the AOE.)
