I have been town hall 7 for a couple months, maxxed out going to town hall 8. I feel like i havent made any progress trophy wise in a long time. It seems like every battle past 1500 takes around an hour 15 minutes to make. Its hard for me at th7 to make any progress because i play sports and Hang out with friends all the time. Does this change at town hall 8? And please explain why and how.

Hm, well if you're talking about army compositions, there are plenty that cook in 15 mins. It only changes in such a way that you get 1 more level on the troops n spells.

Well, trophy hunting is pretty difficult for a maxed TH7. The highest I've heard is low 2000s getting lucky sniping THs. If you wish for your base to continue progressing at a decent rate stick about where you are as a TH8. Maybe a little lower at times and higher if you want DE. As far as just pushing goes though, barb/arch will probably get you to 2000+ if you search for just exposed THs. Otherwise, how your doing it is probably best.

Hmm, to each their own I guess. Until you are a maxed TH8 you aren't going to get much further just attacking normally. If you really want to push, do it. Invest in the time commitment and troop builds necessary to be successful. If you really want to max your base, drop trophies, start building farming armies and do it. But the way the game is currently set up it makes it quite difficult to do both at the same time.
I could care less about resources....
