Hi all,
Myself like many other players have been the victim of very very poor performance of Hay Day on multiple Android devices since the update at the start of the week, now I've seen it mentioned in numerous threads but I couldn't find a single acknowledgement message from SC that it's an issue.
So are they merely ignoring the issue because they haven't experienced it or is it being ignored because they don't know how to fix it....
My Android devices (phone & tablet) load slowly when logging in & coming back from town & fishing areas & from other farms. I have done all updates/downloads there is. HayDay is the only app I'm having problems with!
Hope they get it fixed!
I haven't noticed any thing significantly slower in my wife's and daughters Hayday games but I have noticed it in a few of the popular games that I'm running currently Pokemon go and Magic puzzle quest have both been staples for the last year on my iphone6 and this year they have began running slower due to fact that they both doubled the amount of processor power needed. I would imagine that the fact that the limit on farm sizes for months was due to the fact that older phones wouldn't support it. and now that they have increased land mass that they have indeed decided to use more ram. if your android devices are 1 gig or less ram that could be a factor.
I believe it's still within the rules that it's okay to load hayday on an emulator. like bluestacks (i'm sure a mod will edit this post if not) in bluestacks it's possible to edit the program to allow more or less ram. you can quickly see the difference between running the farm on 512k of ram vs 2048k of ram. so if you enjoy the game it might be time to upgrade if that's the issue you're having.
I only play on idevices and have only experienced a minor change on my phone with 1gb ram. My 2 go ram iPad runs as good as it did pre update.
Is the performance change significant?
How much RAM does your device have?
Anytime a game gets bigger it will put more strain on RAM, just wondering if that is the only issue or something else causing issues on android only devices.
I feel like that change is significant on my feeder farm, which runs on an old Google Next table, and on my main farm when playing on my iPad Air.
This wasn't unexpected to me. HayDay frequently is slow when I visit farms full of many trees or decorations: it think it's just really susceptible to refresh rate problems when there is a lot of "stuff" on the farm. The faster the CPU/GPU on your device is (i.e. the more recent it is) then the less you see the problem. Unfortunately with the update we have a lot more stuff. And as much as I would like to keep the new trees and rocks, I will likely end up having to remove them just for performance reasons.
I hate to say this, but there are days when I wish I could pave all the unused spots with concrete, shoot the birds, and poison the butterflies just to get the "stuff" off the farm and make it perform better. Sigh.
Addendum: I also play my main farm on an iPhone 6s. It's got a much more recent CPU/GPU. And the refresh rate is just fine there. However, if this is all related to the amount of time it takes to draw all the stuff on the screen then it's still draining battery faster than before even if the refresh rate is fine. I really wish SC would spend some time optimizing their code.
Very slow and laggy playing on my Galaxy Tab 4 tablet. Okay on my Galaxy 6 phone. Prefer playing on my tablet, but it is frustrating.
I always felt more land delays were due to ram issues.
Many moons ago Clash of Clans had a waterfall in the background it removed for performance reasons.
Another game I play [which I may not for much longer, frustrating game] is much bigger than Hay Day and has bigger performance issues than Hay Day.
Not sure if Team Hay Day can optimise a lot more, but I'm confident we won't get more land after this for a loooonnnnnggggg time until devices get stronger.
Edit: Probably another reason why it seems town will be upgraded next, much smaller and performance is much better there. It has room for growth; our main farms no longer do.
The lag usually wouldn't bother me. I know it happened after a previous update but got sorted eventually. I hate to complain but the way my farm is acting lately is putting me right off playing the game.
The page on the paper opens slow and the pages stay white. Swiping and loading machines are slow and jolt. I can't even go to a friends farm without having to hard close the game and open it again. When trying to get a task, or even trash them the little loading circle starts up, that's if it doesn't say "Processing Derby Result" before having to hard close it... Again.
I've tried everything, reloaded my phone, checked my internet, deleted the game and install it again, nothing. 😞
Most of my hood play on Apple devices, I asked how their farms are running and most say fine. Is it just an Android thing?
I can confirm, that running Hay Day on my old samsung s4 mini is lagging a lot since the update. I am in the happy position to have all sorts of devices on different OS Levels.
Ipad mini newest generation on IOS 9, farm runs fine, no lags, changing between areas and friends seems bit slower than before, however acceptable. Chat messages however takes noticeable longer to appear after sending (tested in different wifis, as well mobile, all the same)
Ipad mini ~ 3 years old, for personal reasons still on IOS 7. farm runs fine, no lags changing between areas and friends seems bit slower than before, however acceptable. Chat behaves completley strange: Reading is all fine, once tapping the speech bubble chat turns completey black, after sending messages are visible (tested in different wifis, as well mobile, all the same)

S4 mini Android 4.4.2; after starting the app loading takes endless untill farm opens, changing areas or friens or DD has a real lag, Chat is lagging a lot, filling machines is in slow motion, same for planting and harvesting
I understand that mapping the game to so many platforms and OS versions is an endeavour, but as long as it says e.g. IOS 7 still supported I would expect, that bugfixing will happen. Btw support has acknowledged that there are many chat issues.
So I am looking forward to performance tweaks and improvements

I received a message from in-game support yesterday morning which stated that they are aware of the issues. Okay.....??? I just hope it gets back to the smoothly flowing ol' Hay Day real soon! I play on an Android tablet s2.

Yup, ever since the update, HayDay has been slowwwwwwwwww, lagging, and downright irritating. It's getting to the point where I'm going to stop playing AND buying the TONS of diamonds I buy...until it's fixed.
I don't mind spending my hard earned money on a game that actually works, but will stop until they at least address it..and FIX IT.
Actually had my first crash on my iPhone yesterday when farming, which boasts 1GB of RAM. So not just experiencing it been a bit slower than usual.
Fortunately I play mostly on my iPad Air 2 with 2GB RAM which runs smoothly.
But if devices with 1GB RAM (which is decent) is having some issues I'm not surprised there are many with bigger problems, I'd hate to see the game run on 512MB RAM, would be a nightmare. :saywhat:
Poor performance on Android, 8-core cpu and 2 GB RAM. Everything is laggy, like browsing the DD and the global event board. The latter opens 1-2 seconds after I tap it.
PS: I've been in contact with Support for the last week about the game hanging when I come back to it after I take a break, since the December 2016 update. They won't acknowledge it even though I have had this problem for 4 months on 3 Android devices.

Hay Day is running on the lowest resolution available so unfortunately, most of these cases are device driven.
We can only recommend to:
- Free up device memory by closing running unused background apps.
- Increase storage memory by uninstalling apps you no longer need. Also, try transferring (or removing) videos and pictures from your device.

Frisco, that's good general advice, but personally I don't want to play if I have to turn off my one background app podcatcher, and my other farming game is running just fine, and as I usually have to delete something to update anyway, I really do not want to delete any more apps now as I'm down to the bare minimum, so this is not by way of a threat rather a concern I have that the next app I will have to choose will be, gulp, the one that's taking up most room and running jerkily. That's just friendly feedback.
On a positive note though, my Hay Day game appears to have settled itself now and is back to normal apart from occasional long loading issues when I open it - which I can live with as long it's not slow once inside. :)
Maybe it's just fixed by magic. All I did was keep switching the whole device on and off again a few times a day in the hopes that it might do something.
Thanks for that. All of those sound like wonderful ideas and I'm sure they are wonderful ideas when needed. However when a brand new device that was purchased just for playing hayday and ONLY has hay day on it does not work. Then none of the above help. Support has stopped responding to my emails. I haven't gotten any response in over two weeks. It's my grandsons farm on an android device. I guess it's not important enough to get any help. This has been going on for 7 1/2 weeks. So yeah. Yeah, okay ummm... I have to agree with the others here, Frisco, about all the suggestions and them not working. We are all in the same boat as are many, many players here are since the latest update.
It was just this latest update that has caused the laggy and sluggy issues and various others. Our devices are fine. In at least one case, the device is brand new! So is it safe to determine, then, that SC really is refusing to acknowledge the poor performance the update has brought and is not going to do a stitch about it???

it runs slow on any device android or ios, new or old, it has bad performance especially when reloading, often it stops working and you need to close hay day and start it again.
They need to do something about the lock up when reloading, but also the performance in the fishing area is horrible. One of my devices get very hot when fishing.
If I cannot open the app and do some simple tasks within 30 seconds while waiting for my coffee, I cannot play the derbies and might as well drop the game.
Today I have noticed that my farm, the DD, and visiting neighbors work more smoothly than before the server maintenance this morning. Hopefully more works are in the process. I agree with the above post that the fishing area does make my device a lot hotter. I double checked my tablet's stats also just to be sure. I currently have 21.3GB free storage and 1.7GB free RAM. Whenever I write on the forum here, both before the update and now, there is a significant lag and stall that I don't find with any other website. Is this forum connected with/to the supercell servers as well?
These are good 'general' performance tips, and you can find many more if you search for improving performance on devices online. Essentially it's a case of removing & deactivating anything you don't need.Quote:

Considering the game is mostly running pretty normally (touch wood - there's a long initial loading time and occasional painful lags, but it's quite playable) for me on a crappy tablet, and considering my baby farm even works OK on my ancient Samsung Galaxy S2 with less than 1GB RAM and pretty much zero free storage, I would have to say it's not the devices.Quote:

Team Hay Day released two updates after Nick's post. What are the current minimum system requirements for Android and iOS devices?

Well above Min requirements!! Yet since the mini update to release Easter deco, I'm taking 10-15seconds to load. Sometimes it stops altogether, I have to force close and try again.
Chat messages don't always appear instantly.
Loading the paper usually means everything is sold before the pictures actually show up!
Come on Supercell! Love your work, but don't just brush this off, there's an obvious coding issue in that update that needs addressing!

I have contacted Support and informed them about the recent lag in performance since I downloaded the new update and asked about the minimum system requirements for Android devices. Here's the response I got a few hours ago:
"I am sorry to learn that you are facing game lagging issues with the game. I know how disappointing that could be. There have been some recent technical issues affecting a minority of our players...
Please note, our games run best on devices that meet the following (minimum) specifications:
-0.5 GB of RAM (1 GB or more recommended)
-800x400 screen resolution
Lastly, we want to thank you for your continuous association and support.
Have an Awwww -some Day!"
FYI, the above minimum requirements are the same as the ones Nick posted in November 2016. So Team Hay Day thinks the recent technical issues are affecting a minority of their players?

I have some tips that may alleviate some issues on android devices, I have found it has helped alleviate initial first run of Hay Day but not long term, as you will need to keep doing these 2 tips often.
Tip #1
Cache Partition: Every now and then we need to wipe device cache partition to refresh device and increase performance.
Here are the steps depending on your device:
Device #1:
- Power off Device
- Press and hold Volume Up key for 10 Seconds till you see android recovery system display.
- Scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition using Volume Buttons to Navigate up and down
- Select Wipe Cache Partition by pressing home button once.
- Confirm Wipe Cache Partition
- Scroll down to Reboot\Restart Device
- Start Hay Day and you should be running better than before.
Device #2
- Power off Device
- Press and Hold Volume Down Key for 10 Seconds till you see android recovery system display.
- Scroll down till you see recovery using Volume Buttons to Navigate up and down.
- Select Recovery by pressing home button once.
- Click confirm to boot into Recovery Mode
- Scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition using Volume Buttons to Navigate up and down
- Select Wipe Cache Partition by pressing home button once.
- Confirm Wipe Cache Partition
- Scroll down to Reboot\Restart Device
- Start Hay Day and you should be running better than before.
If none of these work for your device, do a web search for Wiping Cache Partition (Device Make & Model)
Tip #2
Third Party Android Maintenance Apps, check Google Play Store for highly rated Apps, also do searches for recommend Android Maintenance Apps. I personally use SD Maid and it has free version which I find very effective for me to keep my android working to its fullest potential without having to be rooted.
Other Tips to check on your android device.
Ensure you have latest version of Android Operating System for your device.
Turn off your Device for a couple of minutes to let your device rest and refresh.
Check if your Android Operating System has performance settings as has been released in some of the latest version of Operating system and can give you added performance boost.
And as always turn off unneeded apps running in the background as they are TSR Apps, Terminate Stay Resident Apps that still use resources such as CPU, Ram and Cache.
Check Connection settings such as Bluetooth if you don't need it turn it off, check your WiFi or cell data speed you might have limited connectivity on a connection causing lags. If you are connecting via WiFi and other apps or web pages running slow consider restarting your WiFi Connection (Restart Router or Gateway).
The above are not guaranteed to fix all issues for hay day but it may alleviate any strains you may have on overall performance for your device.
At the end of the day, if we are still experiencing performance issues doing all we can while our device meet and\or exceeds min requirements put for by App Developer, the Burden ultimately resides on App Developer to either take Corrective Action Steps to fix any coding that is causing strains on devices or set a new required min. I err on side of caution not to raise min requirements as no one will keep buying new devices to keep playing one specific app as that can get expensive for many and not worth it. I also ask the App Developer to look into issues many are experiencing with burnt pixels on android devices from GUI Buttons, check transparency as a possible solution to fix that issue.
I have faith in Supercell and Hay Day Team to do right by it's players and take appropriate measures to resolve this issue and to make Hay Day Great Again for All Players!!!
Yes! Game appears to be running in slow motion on my Galaxy tab since the update. It's less noticeable on my phone.
Great tips Mikeyspeed! I use SD maid too, it's fab, keeps things fresh and running smoothly.
However, SUPERCELL, Hayday is the only app that is lagging and it's only been since the Easter update!
Very very slow on this Android tablet also.
Regarding heat, years ago my device used to get so hot that I feared being burned when fishing. Nowadays it's not a problem at all. Same device!Quote:
