My Lab and builders cannot keep up. Should I upgrade my TH?

I am TH8 at the moment. Resources is never a problem for me. I was a very premature TH8 (TH 4-5 level buildings and walls) when i upgraded to TH8. Had a lot of catch up to do but I am finally almost there.

I have maxed almost everything except for the below:

Defenses:

- Archer towers are level 7-8
- Canons - Level 9
- Teslas - level 2.
- AD - level 4
- Walls only 10 left to max

Army:

- Barracks: 1 level 8, 2 level 9

Lab:

- ballon lvl 3
- Helaer lvl 1
- Dragon level 1
- Pekka lvl 1

DE troops:

BK is maxed and minions are level 3. Rest is level 1.

I have elixir collectors under level but I dont care about those.

My intention was to max everything before upgrading. But now all my upgrades take long and i am starting to face with situations when i have my storages full and cannot raid anymore. If I use 4-5 builders on defenses all the time I would still need around 80 days to max everything and even more if i want to max all troops.

Someone from my clan suggested I go to TH9 premature. But I am not very convinced about that. I dont want to be in the same situation i was when I was a premature TH8.

Also I don’t want to use gems to speed my upgrades.

I am more inclined to simply wait and take my time. When I am about to have my storages full, I can decrease the intensity of my raid, e.g. raid with long cooking time armies just for fun (drags, ballons, pekkas, etc).

What would you suggest?

Maybe raise your trophies, so battles are harder and less loot? Or go trophy hunting to crystall. Or just do what you recommended, long cooking armies for fun. You can also start singleplayer maps from first lvl to the last one

I have only the last four left in singleplayer. Want to keep them for when i need the gold.

I think I will train stronger troops and see how high I can go. We just came from a push and i reached to almost 2100 trophies with simple farming army. Could not get past that.

But problem with going up in trophies is that i cannot keep upgrading my defenses without loosing resources because TH9 and TH10 bases will raid me a lot and having 4-5 defenses upgrading will not help my defense.

Picking between your two options is simply a matter of preference whether you want to

A) ease off the playing a bit, do other things for a few weeks and raid just once in a while, trophy hunt, donate dragons, w/e
or
B) keep farming consistently

If it's A your choice is simple, stay TH8, but if it's B there's no point staying TH8. If you farm well and have a fair amount of time to play, going TH9 early (once you have all L8 walls) is actually a huge benefit.

First off, the loot isn't bad at all. You can easily take in 4-6mil gold and 10-30k DE a day when raiding consistently at TH9, and there's people who do far better than that. When you hit TH9 you will not suddenly see loot dry up, there is a lot of easy money out there if you have level 5+ troops.

Second, your potential DE production from drills nearly quintuples, AND you get to start spending it on the most valuable unit in the game (archer queen).

Third, you add 2 million to your max gold capacity, and give yourself a new gold dump with L9 walls to keep your storages from capping. Everyday at TH8 in which you hold off from raiding because of maxed storages, you're giving up the opportunity to upgrade a couple L9 walls at least.

Finally, nobody ever mentions this, but having a lot of low cost, quick upgrades available (underleveled towers) is incredibly useful at TH9. It gives you more flexibility with your builders, allowing you to stagger them more easily so you can have one free up every day for wall building gold dumps. Staggering gets hard when your only upgrades are in the 7-14 day range, but with low towers still present, you can weave in the 3/4/5 day upgrades between the longer 10-14 day ones.

~4 months ago I had to make the same decision as you, and I ended up going TH9 with level 3 ADs, level 7 ATs, level 7/8 cannons, level 3/4 teslas, some ♥♥♥♥ty collectors, no Dark Barracks, etc, and it was easily the right choice. I got started on walls and my AQ a full 2 months earlier than if I'd waited for full max. Never had issues with keeping builders busy... and you stop getting hit hard by enemy raids a couple weeks in, once you have Xbows and some L7 splash. There's really no downside to upgrading with low defenses and maxed walls, the better loot of TH8 is being wasted anyway if your storages are constantly capped.

Interesting viewpoint.

i will definitely raid less frequently from now on. I will give it a try to simply raid less often, train strong armies and battle for fun, donate or make some trophy push, etc. Will do that for a couple of weeks (in the meantime will have maxed the remaining walls). If I get bored doing that, I will then seriously consider upgrading my TH. thanks for your suggestions.

should have learned your lesson by now not to go to the next th not fully upgrade,upgrade everything you possibly can at th8 (including walls) cuz once you move up theres no goin back

I would go up. With walls maxed and defenses at that level you'll be able to hold your own at TH9. If you don't go you're wasting gold that could be going into level 9 walls

I went up with buildings pretty much maxed except for teslas level 3. It's nice to have some cheap upgrades left - helps keep builders busy if at any point you're not able to raid the millions of gold needed for the new TH9 defenses.

Thanks for sharing! What is the minimal upgrade point to move up for the Queen? I'm a fresh TH8, and it never crossed my mind that the Queen is just one step from me. Maxed splash?

Your defenses still have a way to go before you max them out. I'd suggest staying at TH8 and getting stronger.

Moving to TH9 won't change much, yes you'll have more wall levels available to pour gold into but gold will be more difficult to come by. Also consider that you'll be stuck at TH9 for a long time if you want to be max before considering TH10. take advantage of crushing TH7s for good loot while you still can. Also, the loot bonus from attacking TH10s is something you will really miss at TH9.
