This is a good change. Positive reinforcement is better than negative reinforcement... Especially when left up to one's peers!

I got a negative vote for 'spreading false information', after answering a poster's question, even though my answer was subsequently proven to be correct! That certainly wasn't fair, and I'm sure others have received negative votes for equally unfair reasons.

Without the down vote it feels like a participation trophy. Everybody wins!. Here is an up vote for you. One for you. Oh, that post was absolutely horrid, but you tried, here is a vote for you too.

Yeppppp. I agree, if this rep system stays in down vote should definitely stay. The guys who's ego may be damaged will just have to deal with it XD

I still have to hand out 15 up votes before giving the same person an upvote again. I understand why that is in there, but to get back to being able to up vote a truly deserving post I need to hand out fluff votes. I end up giving out votes, not because they deserve it, but that their post just isn't against TOS. Now that diminished the vote that I wanted to give to the deserving post.

Everyone's a winner syndrome...no wonder there are so many kids who feel they're entitled to everything they want. Bring back downvotes or just scrap the whole system.
