What system?

Oh, good, it's not just me then. I noticed numbers weren't going up like they used to, and I've certainly not been using the system as much. I've only given 2 or 3 since the removal of the downvote, whereas I would do more than that in a day when it was around.
Funny, isn't it? This change where people celebrate not going down for illegitimate reasons, this change they claim is an improvement for the FRS for all of the downvotes before, this change where all you can do is go up...And we're marking a decrease in use of FRS as well as far fewer positive points being doled out
I guess to put it more poetically and emphasize the irony a little better, the removal of negativity has brought about a significant drop in positivity
I've had more incentive to give downvotes in the short amount of time since it has been removed than I did in the entire 30 days it existed. In my totally unscientific estimation, the removal of downvotes has had a negative impact on the forums.
In my equally unscientific (and possibly hyperbolic, but that's up in the air for now) estimation, we've had more people post wishing the downvote button was back than we had actual downvotes. It's certainly true for me. In the last week, I would have handed out more downvotes than I did the entire trial month
new reputation system like: either agree or be quiet, simple as that :D
Maybe I missed a post on this thread, but...
With the down vote removed; you're only collecting positive votes. The number of positive votes you've received over your tenure on the forums feels less relevant (because it's just an accumulation over an unspecified amount of time [sort of like your number of posts]). I think the rate at which you receive the up votes is much more meaningful because this is the frequency at which you are thought to provide a meaningful contribution.
I would say: if you remove down votes from the system, the reputation should be based on frequency of up votes.
