Still plenty of cheaters!

Man, I sure wish I could name and shame! This clan we got paired with in a 40v40 keeps having their th11 leave and go to another clan. I'm #1 in our war and I noticed their 1 was gone. So I went to visit him where he's at and he's copied my war base exactly, no doubt practicing. Three out of 8 of our th11 have already fallen victim to 3 stars and I'm sure the rest will follow. I did take screenshots and send to help and support. Hope they act quickly. I'm sure it won't be in our war, but maybe it will help the next.

I know modding has been greatly reduced, which I'm thankful for. Is anyone else still seeing this? This clan does have a YouTube channel where they show and boast all their th11 triples. Since they publicly list that channel, maybe it wouldn't be naming and shaming if I posted a link to their channel? I'd bet they'd love to hear what everyone thinks about their awesome "skill".

4th out of 8 just fell victim to a 3 star. They did all have scouts but so far when it counted, they are 100%

Good work reporting it and hopefully they work fast to stop them before the war finishes, doubt it however.

When a clan gets the 14 day ban, is it only the members that are currently in it or those that have been there recently as well? Cause if these guys only go over to practice, then come back, the odds of the ban happening during that small window they are there is small, right?

You are not the first to talk about this new tactic for cheating. Hopefully SC is aware of this new tactic

AFAIK, the banning only happens to those within the war. The accounts that are caught with the programs are perma banned.

Sorry to hear that OP. Correct me if i'm wrong. But they can only copied your war base 24 hours before the war end right? And the FC cool down is also 24 hours. How can he practice on your base then?

So how would that work?

The person in question (or any other person for that fact) cannot post a friendly challenge with your base design without a 24 hour cool down.

Secondly, you mention following the person in question to their new clan, and seeing your base. That would mean that the person in questions non war base was setup as yours ... do I have that correct?

I guess the person in question could be using a burner account with cheating software. I hope if that's the case, you were able to take a screenshot showing the person in question as well as a list of the burners. That would tie the burner accounts to the person in question and could lead to his/her permanent ban as well as a clan ban.

Have my fingers crossed that you caught them in the act and that they will be prosecuted.

Supercell does not take kindly to players that utilize third party applications to aide in their clashing. If you feel that you have legitimate proof I would highly suggest sending pictures of your proof along with clan tags and player tags to supercell through the in game email to supercell. Best of luck and clash on.

Word is spreading of this adapted form of cheating. It appears to be real and happening. I'm not sure of its machanics either, nor do I need to really know. Let's hope evidence of any kind is dealt with and sc hit these cheats hard.

This isnt a cheat.. the person obviously has a network of clans to visit where everyone has common th11 bases set up and ready for practice... I've been working on that myself in my own network of clans - we have about 30 players who each have 3 war bases - each base different - if you have a website/chat room and organization you can easily know which clan to move into -so you can practice vs that style of a base...

I used to spend a lot of time on 3starclashing.com - their list of war bases (with names) and various videos of how to 3 star it was great.. back at th8 and 9... lol I wish they'd update it.

there's a 24 hour cooldown on base design and sharing challenges -- I know some people get around it some how.. not sure how... I've seen it a few times when I ask people to make a FWA base and they quickly pump one out and share a challenge.. (maybe they had empty un used slots? ) dont know.

I think SC is aware of those clans, they are like 15-20 clans (all max TH11s) and some have youtube channels, most of them got a 2 week ban of their clan recently so if they get reported many times their whole clan might get a permaban in wars i guess...

by the way its unbelievable how far people are willing to go to win a war in a mobile game....I hate to change my TH11 base as it at least takes me at least 1 hour to change with all the buildings....these guys probably dont have life outside of the game

That is not possible. As other mentioned you need 24 hours to use a newly build base even on friendly challenge. Unless your base is common and they already have a same copy.

According to OPs last post, I believe it's OP I haven't double checked, it is a new kind of mod.

I'm a little fuzzy on the details as well but here's how I see it.

-player goes to a L1 burner clan, copies his opponents war base and sets it as his multiplayer base.
-player used a burner account and mod software to practice on the copied war base.
-a "friendly challenge" does not need to be issued so the 24 hour cool down does not come intro effect.

If I have a network of 3 clans, 1 is at war the other 2 can make a friendly war against each other with replicas of war bases from the 1st one....is this possible?

either i am missing a big point here or op just want to accuse opposition of cheating just because his base was exactly same as his opponent, which alone dosent prove cheating, its very much possible that op's opponent is using one of the popular internet bases which op himself use and he is leaving clan to join other network of clan that thier clan are in, for variety of reasons like to donate troops or practicing, what i seem to understand is that it was not cheating but just some very serious war players, correct me if i am wrong

PS: i am 100% against cheating but every now and then someone coming up and crying victim of cheating just coz they were 3 starred annoys me, 3 stars are possible man if u use popular internet bases

so what they do is on war day copy opponents layout on thier base and then go to another clan where there burner account is and then practice on thier copied base with the burner account in some other clan? so that thier clan dosent get banned? am i right? wow if this is the case these cheaters seem to go very far and i just feel to laugh at it as how far one can go to cheat in a mobile game.

I thought that most of the people new about this new safer way of modding, but as I see that it is unknown for some people I will explain what most of the Top Clans (and some of the non Top Clans) do:
-As soon as the 24h war attack period start, a TH11 base copy the target TH11 base design and set it up as farming base.
-He cannot send this base for a FC before 24h.
-If he brings a burner (small Th5-Th6 account that uses mod), this burner can practice in any farming base of any member of the clan, but if SC finds out that there is an account with mod in the clan. they will ban the clan for 2 weeks.
-To avoid this, the TH11 goes to a level 1 clan with only one account there (the burner), and he can practice with the burner as much as he wants.
-The TH11 goes back to the original clan, smashes the target, and if anything SC will ban the small TH5 burner and the small level 1 clan.
-Clash of Clans will never unleash its true potential as a eSport until they manage to erase all modding options from the game. It is a pitty, mods are killing the game.

thanks for sharing this, i was unaware of this and really thought modding is gone but i dont understand one thing, wont the main account will be banned from wars for 14 days when the burner account and burner clan gets a ban as he was also going there repeatedly with his main account

Maybe they don't do wars too often for that same reason. It's a shame people still cheat. Why can't they just play fair?

Yes, sc hasn't done anything to curb burners yet.

And while the modders aren't as numerous as they once were, we have sandbaggers picking up the mantle that bunnies once coveted.

You can keep all the events, new troops, and wardrobe changes - all we want is fair play.

Hopefully the next update will give us the fair play cw scene we've been asking for for years

yes, you are missing a big point here
first of all ignoring the things is human. you cannot know about the modders tactics or if you meet a modding clan in war you don't recognize them, properly because you are ignoring their way to do
but what is more annoying is when you say that players come and cry victim of cheating

1 they add few burners in war, after the burners scout the top, they kick them. this way the traps are revieled in replay for modding. they can also not add any burner in war, important that low accounts scout the top
2 their top (owners of many burners) copy the war base as their farming base and leave, they create lv 1 clan, where they meet other burners
3 modders dont need 24 hours cooldown, also th3 can have th11 troops
4 they practice attacks
5 the top player returns in main clan and 3 stars the base
6 the burners even if banned, which is a slim chance, because the octopus works in waves and they maybe are not modding at this moment, can be easily replaced
7 the main account will never be banned because on a separate device
8 the main clan will never get 14 days ban because the burners , if caught, are not in the main clan

It's hard to know how many such examples get reported to supercell and how they investigate.

I am not sure they have the resources or the will to investigate each example.

We had a recent war where the clan had 4 th3s in the clan. All of them were elders but had not won any multi player battles or donated any troops. After scouting attacks on our top 3, nothing happened until perfect 3* attacks in the last ten minutes of war. Custom TH10 bases, not internet, never get 3* normally.

Same suspicious pattern. Top enemy leaving clan and coming back for attacks at the end. Going to join a clan with no war wins but lots of low level accounts.

I reported it with details to supercell, but the enemy clan is still there with its huge win streak several weeks on.

we were in war with one of these clans 39 days ago, they were at their 30th win streak. i bookmarked the clan and i'm following it
now they are on 46 win streak
every war their top leave the clan. i have screen shots of all their movements. the clans they created for cheating do not exist any more
today i see they all moved in lv 2 clan, only 10 people remain in the old clan. something has happened there. maybe some burner was banned, or don't know what...maybe they all moved to be safe for a while. will check if they return in main clan. i don't think they are going to abandon lv 12 clan after so much work (cheating)

When I used the cheat word I got a warning as it "would offend some players".. .
I am seeing this method of bending the rules regularly now in wars and like other methods will be rife until supercell does something .. it's the same area of people who do it and we will always suffer by playing fairly

Wait, so the top player who copied the base has a mod which would bypass the 24h cooldown? If so, how is he able to escape the ban? Is it not detected by SC then? Why is the low th burner banned then?

A lot of players seem unable to grasp this concept. Or they're well aware of this and are in defense mode. I had the same discussion with a clan mate this past weekend that was going over the top in defending a well known mod clan that uses these tactics.

Shocker, said mate leaves a couple days later and the first place he winds up...is in the sister clan of the said clan mentioned above.

Actually, the whole clan gets the 14 day ban.

I guess I don't get the point of this whole cheat process. It takes quite a bit of work to redesign a base, set up a burner acct., practice to win and go through all this to avoid being banned. It's also amazing to me that these guys are doing this each time to win a single war. That's a lot of effort just to pad a statistic in a mobile game. I could understand it if there was real money to be gained by doing this but not for bragging rights or whatever other joy these modders feel they achieve.

It's not that much effort. Certainly not any more than dedicated modders have been putting forth for years.

Those bragging rights- the rock star status, fanboy allure, having players gushing over your achievements...it's a powerful drug. You get addicted to being on the top of the mountain, and be damned if you want to lose that feeling. Go to any lengths to keep it going.

This is a problem right now, but if any legit players are considering joining up and doing the same I wouldn't recommend it. It is very possible SC will figure out a way to confirm that th11 in the example is cheating as described and ban not only the burner account but the th11 as well. I look forward to a day when some th11s complain they were banned even though they don't have a 3rd party app on that device, but they were discovered to have been cheating with another device and a burner account.

The problem with the instant bans/checks is the mod developers will run checks against it and fine tune their product to avoid the detection before they release it. Also note, SC has never said they don't do instant checks. They just have said they don't do instant bans. The bans come in waves, but that doesn't mean they don't know along the way who is modding. The real key will be for SC to figure out how to confirm the clans that benefited from cheating, such as the example given here, and the issue a big punishment, such as moving the clan back to level 1 and clearing out their war log. That would have a much bigger impact on modding than a temporary 14 day suspension. I don't think it should happen on the first offense, but if SC can figure out that X clan has had Y number of burners banned or has been linked to burners in other dummy clans Z number of times, boom, clan reverts to level 1.

SC responded to me last night and said they don't know how this is possible since there is a 24hr cool down and to clash on! What a joke. They can't be that oblivious, right?

Oh, and now 7 of our 8 th11 have been triples. And no, not internet bases. And if you've been doing clan wars for longer than a day or two, you'll know that maybe 1 or 2 th11 triples might happen occasionally, but to get 7 out of 8, and soon to be 8 out of 8 (all non internet bases), you know something isn't right.

Reading threads like this makes me realize how truly naive I am.

Seriously though, who comes up with this stuff? Just put that much effort into planning your attacks and you'll be amazed at the results.

Last week we got matched against two TH11 (to our none) of TH10.5 defense with TH11 max offense guys and they ran the table with us, but both of their TH11 left before doing their attacks (we had been scouted by their bottom TH). We celebrated their departure, then came back and smoked our TH10 (the celebrations ended). I had no idea this is potentially what they were doing.

I know I'm not alone, but the process is the part that is the most fun. Scout - Plan - Refine Plan - Plan contingencies - Attack. I often spend half an hour or more dry running my screen taps if the attack is a game breaker, looking for opportunities for bowlers or the queen to go rogue that I need to account for.

SC is very secretive of things they do, might as well be pretending that they don't know and in the background they are doing SOMETHING.

As I recall, lower level THs are not subject to the 24 hour FC cooldown. Is that an essential element here which could be removed by treating all bases the same?

Last week we got matched against two TH11 (to our none) of TH10.5 defense with TH11 max offense guys and they ran the table with us, but both of their TH11 left before doing their attacks (we had been scouted by their bottom TH). We celebrated their departure, then came back and smoked our TH10 (the celebrations ended). I had no idea this is potentially what they were doing.

I know I'm not alone, but the process is the part that is the most fun. Scout - Plan - Refine Plan - Plan contingencies - Attack. I often spend half an hour or more dry running my screen taps if the attack is a game breaker, looking for opportunities for bowlers or the queen to go rogue that I need to account for.

That is what the cheaters do and they get their inflated war stars and clan perks and war logs. I hope they all get reset back to 0 some day.

Literally 100s of times for myself and my clanmates where 1 hog at the end or 1 wizard cleaning up the trash ring would have impacted the result significantly.

Me too, pretty much every war. I just 70% 2 starred #1 in our last war and I know I would 3 star it with enough practice. Even 2-3 practices might have been enough. With all day long to practice as many times as I wanted? 3 stars easy.

Everyone understand that 24 hour cool down doesn't apply? No friendly challenge ever even issued.

If you create a new base and immediately set it as your active home base, your clan mates can immediately visit your home base and see your pretty new base, right?

Well, with mod software, clicking "visit" allows you to attack.

Maybe sc just needs to make the 24 hour cool down apply to home base viewing as well. Easy fix?

Yeah I would seriously doubt they are playing dumb...chances are the automated system just responded and someone filled in the blanks.

For those in the thread unsure of this adapted form of cheating: yes, it is possible.

Basically they use burner clans to build the th11 bases as their home base. They then use a burner on a separate device to mod that home base.

Hopefully SC finds a way to shut this down soon too.

Also hope that it wasn't wrong of me to explain this on forums.

It's against the forum rules to explain how cheating works. For example, I was not aware of this practice until I saw it here. Like me, many forumers had no idea of this cheating method and we certainly can't do anything about it. What can happen though is people looking up how this method works and start doing it themself since they are now aware. I know the intent is a noble one but the outcome is most likely a bad one.

As a leader, I do like to read about issues not involving fair play so I know what to look for. Since I'm into fair play, I had no idea about other software until I read about it here. I will kick and/or report now.

I can certainly understand your concerns, but by becoming aware of this pactice there is something that can be done about it. The forum is all about social engineering and the impact it has on the community.
What concerns me now is that it can turn into a witch hunt. Everybody who leaves the clan now during the 2 day war period will now be a target. When I first started coc, I thought it unfair to see my opponents leave during war and return then get smashed. I suggested to my clanmates back then that there should be a cooldown for just those players that practiced that technique.

Which rule would it come under? I have to agree, it's not ideal with people possibly considering it here. But by explaining we can be more aware against it too... I have just rechecked the rules and can't tell which one it directly comes under.

Fix is simple, really...At least it seems simple. Just make the 24hr cool down apply to view someone's home base as well. What would the long term ramifications to that be? Does anyone see a problem with that? I know it would stink to build a base and not allow anyone to comment on it for 24 hours, but most clans are in some social chat app anyway. Just take a pic and post it to whatever social app you use. Not ideal, but solves the modding problem. Right?

That comes under illegal activities? Oh.

It hasn't been took down so far, and all the people around have appeared to find explaining how to find these people helpful, as well as knowing to screenshot everything and send to support. Also, better to make SC possibly aware of this more. It took a lot to get them to stop mods, then burners, it may well take quite a bit too to stop burner clans. I hope they stop them sooner without people having to create multiple threads on the topic though. Hopefully as they pay more attention to the war scene, they will notice this too.

Guys that are modding can copy a base with one click! Ive seen it! so maybe the developer of the mod found away around the 24 hour cool down! Supercell is behind when it comes to modders! we see mod clans all the time, it does no good to report because nothing happens ever. all we can hope is they finally figure out how to end it for good!

Tbqh, all I've heard when I reported some people with evidence was "We also wish we could ban people like this, and will continue to try." which basically translates as "We can't ban them as the octopus didn't get them"

edit: I make that translation as there was no "appropriate action will be taken" at the end

edit2: screenshots from 2 wars, solid evidence of both clans being used as burner clans, solid evidence that both the modding clans were made of the same people etc

This is amazing....haven't seen it yet but it seems pretty easy to stop. 1. Do not allow anyone that is in a war to leave a clan. Or 2. Do not allow anyone that has left a clan in war to return to the war.

Granted...then the issue comes well what if they just have another clan mate that is not in war do the actions. They could go ultra strict....if your clan is in war...your clan is locked...no one leaves or enters. After all most people lock their clan when war starts to prevent the other team from having spies. They just have to completely lock it down when in war...atleast during the 24hr war period.

U can't copy the traps nd tesla placement unless u have a burner account nd to practice u have a 24hr cooldown which doesn't come into picture for burner accounts (guessing from what I heard about cooldown time stuff).

I'll say this much- we had a recent incident while at war with a clan that was using their clan description to taunt and really go at us hard. They had a leader (of course) and 5 or 6 CO's in the clan. A couple mates reported the clan descriptions- and within a couple hours, one mate was banned. One of the CO's. We know this, because the taunt continued, with a reference to the ban.

Now, I used to think if a ban was going to occur from clan description taunts, SC would have to take action against all mates that had the ability to edit the clan description. That didn't happen here- they replied to the complaint that action had been taken...and banned one of 6 possible offenders. Which means they knew exactly who did it.

Which brings me to the point I was trying to make. I think SC has the ability to see quite a bit more inside a clan than I thought. And if that's the case- I'm a little confused as to why more direct actions can't be taken against obvious, known modding such as this.

Mod is this, pratice on a base many times until u get the right combo and right placement of spells and troops to 3 star that base.....

I can only assume that SC get a fair few complaints against suspected modders and that investigating each complaint takes time.

The number of complaints vs the resources to investigate each one would more than likely be a factor.

every company which create the games can track ANY info about a player
i have been number 1 player in a fb game very much like COC, and i know for sure and i had evidence that the devs could track every my step, time i log in, from which country i purchase the ingame money, even the chats inside the clan
so, yes, SC could do it if they wanted
look here. this is the history of one th11 player, number 1 of the modders clan and his hopping the clans

Not being able to rejoin a war after leaving wouldn't help I don't think. The cheater can keep their main account in the main clan. Just the burner has to leave. They can practice th11 attacks with the burner. Then do the real attack with the th11 that stayed in the clan. The fix will involve SC confirming a link between the burner and the main account and then banning both, even though the main account has no 3rd party software on that device.

They need a th11 to attack outside the clan, as otherwise it is even more noticable.

I suspect the modded th3 can make a th11 base to attack (they can use full th11 offense) and if not, all they have to do is express a need and the modders will make it so they can do it that way. SC is just going to need to drop a bigger hammer. I personally wouldn't find the cheating way to winning fun, but even if I did, I wouldn't risk it because I think SC will eventually drop that big hammer and ban some high level accounts that thought they were safe because only their burners were modding.

I am soo happy to see thus being talked about in length and truly hope it doesn't get taken down. I have seen complaints about this for months now and so many people just brushed it off because they couldn't understand it (including myself). I hope we can all keep our eyes out for this type of activity and stay on top of sc by reporting! It truly is a shame to hear that the devs can't figure out a way to STOP this new way of modding...

Mmm...unless they ban accounts from attacking when coming back to a war, if a base the same as one of their enemies was just built as their home base and taken to a level one clan...idk

edit: then again, they could just switch to modding massive 10v11s or summot...idk

Then know down to the last gold piece how much loot is available at any given time in game. They can find villages that have been disconnected from devices and restore them to new devices. They can fabricate a fully maxed base and place it in game as they wish (which you tuber did hey do that for? Galadon? I forget). They can dig up ANYTHING that they want in game. They have the resources to do so, and we know they have the funding to do so. There is absolutely no reason that this kind of issue should be going on with a multi billion dollar company in the year 2017.

this reminds me of when modding was just getting started. you'd see a modding clan here and there, but it wasn't wide spread. by the time it got to SC's attention they were out of control. this out of control growth just continued for literally years while SC did next to nothing about it. (by the way if you're curious about modding solutions - there are several real world examples where other companies plagued by the same bunny factory resolved this issue once and for all, google it - they even got the bunny factory to release an apology)

anyway, years go by and SC finally bans most of them, leaving only the burners. this was, hands down, the best time to war. it was the golden period between when the modders bit the dust and before the sandbagging wave.

nowadays, we have lopsiders doing everything they can to sandbag the war match making system. look at the state of the forums today - people are posting non-stop about upgrade weights and how best to sandbag the system. it's only a matter of time before sandbaggers are as numerous as modders once were.

with both modders and sandbaggers on the menu and multiple fixes presented across several forums - i can't help but think (hope) that SC will follow through with their fair play initiative and level the playing field. maybe the next update will be the winner!

Disappointing that SC are willing to make the game like this tbh. FPC doesn't consider any exploits fair play, and they've always backed FPC since they moved against original modding...

Wouldn't this be fixed if the 24hr cool down was applied to when viewing someone's home base? A modder just has to click "visit" on the newly created th11 home base and can practice. This wouldn't work if the home base viewing wasn't available.

Not sure how that would impact the rest of the cocsphere but seems like an easy fix.
