Still plenty of cheaters!

I'm quite sure the solution is above my pay grade. That SC is doing the best they can regarding TPA use. I have to believe that, because the alternative to that is about enough to make me want to snap my iPad in half.

It has to be more difficult than this- but as a simple player, I cannot understand why more proactive steps can't be taken. Octopus is like the air assault- it will clear a heck of a lot...but eventually you need to insert the ground troops. Door to door. Why cant resources be spent doing this with known clans?

I say this, walking a delicate tightrope here so as to not lose my privilege to frequent this forum...because proof of specific clans that use TPA's is there. Was there. And those clans continued, continue to operate to this very day. You could make the argument they stopped using after the release of Octopus. I'm inclined to believe they did not. But back in 2015, we had it. Again...being vague enough so as to not name/shame or call anyone out- we had/have proof. I know this because I was fortunate enough to have received it. And those clans were never punished. Not before Octopus, and not after being smart enough to navigate around it. I've still got some PMs of those very conversations. I'm not talking out of my rear.

Sorry to get up on my soapbox, but this just chaps my rear thinking about it. We're over two years into this mess and still without a resolution.

Wasn't aware that they don't even need to do a live attack now. Seems like modders are steps ahead of SC at this stage. Wouldn't screen control program be considered a third-party app that violates ToS?

Why not just make the 24 hour cooldown apply to visiting someone's home base? If you change your home base, you need to wait 24 hrs before someone can view it. If you really need someone to see it to help design it, just take a screenshot and send it via some chat app.

Modders need the "visit" option in order to practice on a base.

SC already has the tools: octopus
the problem is that they switch it on once in a while. who is "unlucky" is burnt.... but after all this is their role, to be burnt and replaced while the main account (the owner of all these little bunnies) is safe
someone said that SC gather many modders during few months in a kind of a gas room, and when it is enough full, they open the gas....i personally don't think that the ban waves work this way
i think that SC switch on the octopus and those who are using the illegal tools at this moment are burnt
this is a partial solution as the burners are promptly replaced
i have no idea why should the devs use the octopus in waves. i know, i know, many say :to make the modders scare
and again, who scares? i see the mosdding clan passing from 30 win streak to 46, the same burners are still there, some with last year hallowing pumpkins in their orchard
does it cost to the billion company so much to run the octopus, or call it whack-a-monster and once a burner triggers the flag it is really burnt?
without a burner the main accounts will not be able to cheat. and they are not so dumb to use mod on their main

I assume you mean leaving during a war, not that you are stuck for life in the first clan you join. But it doesn't fix anything worth fixing. Hopping is a non-issue for SC; someone who is in your clan and decides they don't want to take part in war screws you over just as badly whether they are stuck there or not. You deal with hoppers by having smart leadership. And blocking people from leaving the clan doesn't prevent modding if what has been said about burners is true.

But it would stop people from visiting other clans to get troops not available in their own clans. That would suck for up-and-coming clans that didn't have a donor in the clan, especially when matched against a clan that does (and that donor wasn't included in war matchmaking).

So, fixes nothing, but hurts some. Maybe not such a great suggestion.

No, not very good. Hurts clans where they need to go elsewhere to make/get war donations, but only slightly inconveniences the modders. Time to enter a base from a screenshot goes way down with practice, and is a small fraction of the time to be spent practicing attack. How many people would be willing to spend 4 or 5 hours working on an attack, but would give up if they had to spend another 20 minutes drawing the base?

No, I don't think this is true. If you get the dreaded signal/connectivity loss warning during an attack, you still get to play for a while. I think the data does go to your client, which sends back your actions to the server as you make them. The game is too smooth to believe the client app is interacting with the server about everything as it happens. The server keeps a list of your inputs, and replays are done by just playing back the list, and watching a live attack just feeds you those inputs to be played back in your client.

not violating since it is not changing COC files. It is just moving touches on your screen, its a recorder of actions and it replays it back.

That's what I thought at first, too, but it appears not.

So to throw some gasoline on the fire, maybe one approach here is to get rid of the 24 hour cooldown and let everyone practice? Yes, it still gives an advantage to the more dedicated, but isn't that always the case whether or not they break the rules? Speaking for myself, I would have no complaint if they shut down the current loopholes and stopped the modders cold — I would be happy to see it. But I am of the opinion that any game where you have the opportunity to scout your opponent for hours before attacking is going to be vulnerable to attack in some manner. Leveling the playing field by removing or reducing the FC cooldown seems more attractive to me than depriving us of the ability to choose our war targets, which would be lost if we lose the ability to scout.

That breaks ToS, it is a TPA, it is basically another bot type, just in the more known war-modding kinda way...
