Th7 de farming guide

Hi there,
With the recent hype around DE at TH7 I decided to put together a guide, that will teach you hopefully, how to raid DE at TH7.

So first off, I assume many of you TH7 people use lightning spells to get most of your DE. Well.. This is an inefficient, but cheap way to get DE, however, I urge you to resist temptation to drop a lightning on DE storages.

So you may be wondering how you get DE without lightning spells. I've devised an army composition to raid DE efficiently and effectively.

27 Barbs
28 Archers
14 Giants
2 Healers
17 Goblins
5 Wizards
5 Wallbreakers
2 Lightnings
1 Rage

To Use this Army composition:

1. Look for bases where the DE storage is either in the first or second layer of the base. Also look for Drills that are outside the base, or easy to get with a few archers.
Also look for underleveled TH9 and 10s, they are good to attack because, what you steal from them, they won't be able to get back in return when they revenge you. Also the loot penalty will offer you a large amount of DE when attacking these players.

2. Drop the two lightnings in the splash building closest to the DE storage.

3. Lure out the BK/AQ/CC Troops, use barbs to kill them, do not use all your barbs, try to save some for later.

4. Use remaining Barbs and a few archers to clear outside buildings that may distract other troops. This is a crucial step as your raid is decided on how fast you get to the DE and how fast you can take it.

5. Now, once outer buildings are cleared, drop 4-5 giants to tank while, your wallbreakers, take down a few walls. Send the wallbreakers in waves of 2 at a time.

6. Now, drop a rage spell that crosses over the DE storage(assuming you've picked a base with the storage in the second or third layers, and you've managed to break into the first layer)

7. Quickly following the rage, drop remaining giants, healers, wizards, and goblins in that order. Drop them in line with the DE storage so they lock on to it first. You need to be very fast and precise with this step otherwise it will be hard to get the DE.

8. Your wizards and goblins should target the DE storage and quickly take it down.

A Summary of the guide:

Look for bases with at least 600+ DE.
Look for exposed drills and storages in the first or second layers.
It is possible to attack TH9s and 10s with this strategy.
Be quick when deploying troops in to the rage. Timing is crucial for this to work.
Remember to take out as much splash buildings as you can with your lightnings.
DO NOT LIGHTNING THE DE STORAGE.

The spells are optional if you can't be bothered waiting for them to finish. However results will improve with a rage spell.

Suggested Trophy Range: 1300-1600, I wouldn't go past this as most people in higher trophy ranges will have their DE in the middle of their bases.

As for your CC troops, try to get wizards or Dragons if possible, otherwise archers are good enough.

Yeah the DE aim is just a guideline, though the more DE you look for, the harder it gets to raid it.

At TH7, I would bring a Wizard-Meat shield army to the Gold II and Gold I leagues with the intention of hybrid-farming one or two star victories against middling bases with prematurity issues; two rage spells and a heal in my back pocket too, I should say.

So, you're going "next....next...next..." a fair bit looking for glitter and then, bam, a black whale off the starboard bow - a fat DX storage near the fringe of an advanced base with purple walls.

"Change of plans, boys!"

I used the same Giant screen ahead of Wizard firing line as I would have to one star the lesser quarry, but a bit more concentrated. Nothing fancy - I kept minimal wall breakers back then, just four - with Wizards performing auxiliary demolition work on the breaking and entering. Just drop all three spells if it's a real whale, though I found the healing spells was a definite must fairly early in the attack.

It looks about like the battle of the Somme as you're not going to last long with the X-Bows and fireball mortars whittling down a tight knob of four star troops. The battles' over in about 30 seconds and you might have gotten the base to 15% damage, so you're definitely getting your tail kicked by traditional measures. But, you're getting tail kicked while coming out with 1,000+ Dark Elixir and sometimes substantially more than that. When it's a TH10 that has a vulnerable storage, it can be a real bonanza with more than 3,000 rolling in for me one time.

The main thing is that the Gold II and Gold I leagues have a lot of DE high rollers, so if you're looking for gold up there by default, you can just pick the best DE targets when they present themselves. You'll get a lot more gold at a lower trophy count, but the hybrid method will allow you to be more choosey with your DE targets as at least you're sustainable with gold and elixer. At TH7, I found that builders was always the limiting factor anyway, so slow build armies bringing in 200K an hour was enough to max the walls.

Now that I'm TH8, I scrapped this plan as I need a lot more gold for everything and hybrid farming isn't going to get it done, but this works well at TH7.

Well you can aim a smidgen higher but if you shoot much past that your going to be hitting next alot.


You have to remember, alot of the 750+ bases are 8 and above. If they are upgraded enough Th 7 troops (aside from the almighty dragon) get shot down very quickly. However, if you can get yourself high enough, you can find players who aren't valuing their DE

Nice work.

Personally I think it's light on breakers. I find that 5 just isn't enough - particularly at level 4 the little buggers just don't break enough.

But a nice balance of extra insurance [with healers & wizards] vs build time [such as all drags]

Im th7 farming de, just to to around 1300 trophies and pick off drills, most people there are high level people farming with town hall in the side with level 3+ drills, dont bother with the storages drills have plenty.

Nice, I personally would skip the healers and add more archer and barbs for town hall 7, but good job.

The healers are there to aid both giants and wizards, they've saved me countless number of times when my giants have been killed. Though adding more barbs and archers adds firepower which in turn can destroy the Storage faster.
