I see lots of overflowing postboxes when visiting farms. I'm wondering why people don't collect their gift certificates. I know that often people are not impressed with what they get, but there's always a chance of something good.

You can only have 40 + a couple collected at one time. Sometimes, the mystery deco will be expiring and I want to see if something comes up that I don't have, and don't want to use them on a lesser possible prize until I see what is offered. I agree that there is always a chance to win a good prize. My BRT and windmills, along with a good number of my instruments were all from the postbox. I also have lots of things in storage, that I probably will never use and that's ok too.
One player said they did it for aesthetic reasons. They liked the look of a full mailbox with notes scattered on the ground. :o This player also leaves packages from Alfred uncollected, because she likes the look of a giftbox next to the house.
Others might just forget to collect. And I bet some don't even know they have gift cards waiting for them and that they're trade-able for prizes.
I feel an experiment coming on... I have 30/40, so I will mess with Albert for a few days ;)
I could never allow myself to try any such experiments, the moment I have a package or postcard I collect it immediately!
I've read on 2 or so occasions how people save them thinking an expensive package is going to come up (as in more than 35 gift cards). So there might be others who think similarly. Just thought I would throw it out there as one possibility.
I didn't pick them up for weeks at one point, I just wasn't interested in any of the prizes. It turns out that I lost out on gift cards. Once I used some and collected what was there, the numbers didn't add up. I collected WAY less than the 5/day that I usually get. So there is a cap! I just don't remember what it is....
