Am I a stalker?

I have just been reading the forums for the first time and am learning a lot about the game. I have been playing for over 18 months but am only now realizing many people don't want "outsiders" to buy from their shop...

I truly don't understand this, I thought the whole point of the game was to shop from the newspaper. I have spent hours searching for needed items as I would never have been able to level up or expand any other way.
I feel as though if you put it up for sale it's up for grabs by anyone, you don't get to choose who you sell it to because you just want to get rid of it.

I belong to a large neighborhood, although only a fraction of the players contribute to the derby. I'd love to win some would but never want to pressure people. I realize many neighborhoods are very competitive but can't see how this extends to their frustration with stalkers, we all know how to message each other or turn off the advertise button for the newspaper.
I know some people are annoyed with Facebook stalkers but I don't know how they are different, someone may be able to explain.

Have I been playing incorrectly all this time? I'm really interested to know.:D

If the items being advertised in the DD no wrong in buying them
Stalking is when you follow a person and buy some exclusive items from the shop which is meant for someone else.
No wrong in buying tools/items from DD newspaper which was advertised

There is no such thing as a "stalker" in Hay Day. :) If you stumble across a RSS via the newspaper which has items on sale or you follow someone, they are up for grabs. Those are the rules of the game. Anything else is just made-up rules by players which don't apply officially. Some use the RSS as a trading place, but if they do, they take a risk that someone unwanted buys it.

I was kind of wondering the same thing about myself - lol. When I'm looking in the dd, I am shopping so fast that I don't look at shop names to see if there is a note saying to not buy from here. Most are not in my language anyway so??? I figured if it was in the dd, it was fair game. Nice to see that is the way the game was meant to be played.

If it's in the DD and advertised, buy as much as you can get as fast as you can get. It's not stalking when you buy from the DD, ever.

But if a stranger helped you when YOU advertised in the DD, and then you camp on their shop for days and days on end and buy every single item that they ever put up in their shop, non-stop to the point that you barely even play your own game 'cause you're too busy camping on an anonymous stranger's shop, then yes you are a stalker.

Not saying it's against the "rules" but you didn't ask if was against the rules, you just asked if it was stalking and the answer to that question is that clearly yes it is. :)

The only person I would consider "a stalker" is someone that has the malicious intent of disrupting "normal" game play. There are some very mean people that actually do this. And they have figured out the loopholes that will allow it.

If you are asking "Am I a Stalker?" And you admit to visiting the same farm(s) constantly and buy only the premium items or all the items in the RSS, then you may have aggressive buying tendencies that are looked upon unfavorably. If you have "followed" those farms, do not be surprised if you are deleted. If they are in-game friends, you may be blocked. Otherwise, don't fret about it, if it's in someone's stand, IMHO, it's fair game to go on a shopping spree. :)

First if all - welcome to the forum :)

Easy answer first: No, you have not been playing "incorrectly" all this time. There is no right or wrong way to play Hay Day, as long as WHAT you are doing or HOW you are playing DOES NOT violate the Terms of Service (use of emulators, etc.)

Now the more complex topic:

Buying anything for sale in any quantity is 100% within the rules. So shop away and be unburdened -- if it's for sale, you can buy it! :)

That having been said: If you read enough of these "stalker" and "raiding" threads (and I have read and posted on what seems like hundreds) you will see a wide opinion said in what constitutes roadside shop "stalking" and "raiding" - neither of which are against the game rules.

Everyone who downloads Hay Day (and stays with it) plays the game the way they want to, and in the way that works for them. Each of us plays the same game, but differently. That is the joy of Hay Day: It can be played in an endless variety of ways.

BUT:

Hay Day is a social game. We are encouraged to "add friends" and "help your neighbors" and "join a neighborhood" and "play together". In some cases, players have experienced strongly negative or sustained unwanted or unwelcome game interactions with other players via this social aspect that is an integral part of the the game design. <-- This is where the discussion gets tricky, because this is where human emotion and behavior factors in. It's where some people have opportunity within the rules to disrupt the game for others, and they do so, sometimes willfully and intentionally.

SC has recognized this issue, and over the years has given players the ability to block players from their farm (temporarily via the in-game friend book or permanently by deleting an unwanted follower). These sustained negative interactions are rare, but deeply unpleasant to the farmer who is on the receiving end of unwanted visits and actions.

In my opinion, If you are just shopping you are not a "stalker" or "raider." You know your motivations, and if you are not actively trying to punish or harass anyone else, you need not worry about your game play. You are within the rules, and you are playing the game the way it was designed.

General rule - if any items are placed in the RSS, they are up for grabs for anyone playing the game. Like I said, the RSS has never been, is not, and probably never will be treated as a place to trade. If we ever make any changes to that, you will know about it.

How often do u sell and what do u sell, nick? How often do u play the game? If the answer is not much and junk items, then I don't think u understand what stalking is and why this topic has been discussed for 4+ years. And from ur response, seems like it's something that SC will never look into. Swell.
