Has this started already? I have more than 50 posts but no ability to add reputation ratings to posts.
i really don't get the idea of launching this feature since i believe that title shows the reputation enough for a person, however, like forum senior or superstar or legend cant be achieved through 3-4 days even earning the title takes time then why this reputation system? albeit i'm not against it i'm just curious.
well, i got ur point... but spammer like me (did i call myself a spammer!!) can achieve Forum Elder/Superstar within 2-3 months !
but the idea that keeping Reputation system alive is to distinguish between forumers like me (spammers) and those who really deserve special titles/honor for their great contributions for this forum :)
note: i didn't wanna say someone spammer, that's why gave example as 'I'
Sorry if this has been asked but... is there a way to check your own reputation data? I saw something about a reputation tab in your profile, but mine doesn't appear to have one. (Unless I am looking in the wrong spot). Does it show up if nobody has given you any reputation adds yet?
So, we got official SC staff, mods, game specialists, post counts and forum titles...why the reputation system again?
I see this being manipulated by the buddy system, especially when the message you get for giving a reputation point states," congratulations on giving a reputation point and now I hope you receive one in kind."Sounds like a scratch my back I'll scratch yours set-up to me
I think i'll fail big time on this :P
Where reputation points will have a real effect is on posts from members who want up the food chain of status. Those of us that post what we think and read what is relevant to us will carry on doing so.Members that spam or troll will wear a red square with pride and members with polarizing views/opinions will be easy to spot and thus lead you too the best threads
I am not sure what you want out of this. It was my opinion. My opinion is people come to a game forum to discuss the game. The Reputation system (which I think is an astronomical joke) should reflect people having a sound reasoned comment about game and/or device issues to make the game work. My opinion, from what I have seen, Aspex should have a huge reputation. I doubt that happens, but should.
This feature is new and I don't go to OT/games very often anymore but I don't think a funny comeback to a comment there should advance someone's reputation.
Strictly my opinion. I don't have any specific happenings.
So your case for no reputation in OT is that witty comments shouldn't be upvoted.
Ergo two things:
1. Witty comments shouldn't be upvoted anywhere at any time because they don't deserve to be.
2. Off-Topic consists of nothing but spam and witty comebacks.
Since clearly neither are true, the basis for your case is completely and utterly flawed, and thus has no ground. Clearly, giving off-topic the reputation system is nothing but a good thing, as it would allow for OTers to honor those who provide insight into theories on games such as TvMs, and provide incentive to add to discussion in Off-Topic.
I'm borderline on downvoting your post because that's pretty offensive to OTers to make such an assumption.
Radiating, another forum I am on, you don't get an increase in post count for anything posted in the off-topic area. As Martvol said, OT has nothing to do with the game. That forum has a strong OT community, no one cares about getting anything in return for posting in OT.
That's just as flawed an assumption. There is NOTHING in the OP that saying even a hint about Clash of Clans, not even a mention or an implication that it's meant just for Clash of Clans. Ergo, there's zero reason not to implement it in OT, even after the arguments that you have made.
Huh. Funny you mention that.
Lach gives no response to either of these responses. The source you cite doesn't even give a substantial response to any of the two/three posts that I quoted above. You still have no ground, and in fact if we're actually looking to this thread then we should be looking toward my arguments 100%, not yours.
The end goal of this feature is to give an incentive to forum members to be more helpful, provide quality posts/threads and receive some kind of "recognition" from other forum members.
Off topic, as mentioned before, has nothing to do with the actual games. I frankly cant see how upvoting a post in off topic, where all non game related discussions are, could somehow benefit Clash of Clans, CR, BB or Hay Day.
To make reputation points truely about post content alone then the amount givrn per member per day needs to be drastically cut.Having ten points a day does nothing to discourage pointing up friends and ganging up if however only 10 points per month with a use them or lose them system then only posts of worthy content or truely toxic/spam nature will be given points thus the true intention of its implementation is ensured
Many people so far have stated that down votes are going to happen on threads for people who start to talk about something that has conflicting veiw points with others (Posts that should not have been down voted).
How many of you have had this happen to you since the rep system came out and what section was it in?
I find that createing a poll and stickying it asking this question, in all sections and all games, would be very very helpful in determining the course of action (Do this around day 30 or so?)
This way there will be less guessing on how the rep system works and more knowing. See how all the sections have been effected, and not just general, would be very helpful to know also.
The first beat down thread I have seen. OP got several down votes.
https://forum.supercell.com/showthre...o-be-played%21
For anyone wondering why Radiating edited their last post it said this. (And mods can check if they wish)
Also @the person who down voted me- if you're going to downvote me, at least have the guts to say why I'm wrong or being condescending in the thread... I know who you are but I won't witch hunt you.
Exactly why this rep system is a joke as immature and egomaniacal people simply can't handle it.
Remember everyone this is a trial run. They are testing it out to see what works and doesn't work. The very nature of a trial like this is to expect some things won't work well. They can then figure out ways to improve them. I think overall this could be a good thing, but I worry it will be too much work for the mods to keep up with people complaining to them about undeserved down votes. Personally, I would change this over to be anonymous and I would require 10 up votes for every down vote. The very number of required up votes will offset the undeserved down votes and also cause people to be more cautious with which posts to down vote, probably using them for actual posts that deserve it.
I don't post much. I mostly pop on here for new idea's. Check to see where the game may be headed. Stuff like that. I would like to see this system replace a lot of the "this 10 chars" post. Digging thru some of the longer threads can be a chore.
Didn't the forum used to have a thread rating system where users could rate the thread out of 5 stars? If so, can someone tell me why this was removed?
How does OT not fit any of those 3 criteria. The rep systen isn't to help the game, it's to help the forums and there's plenty of great posters that do deserve to be recognized. Just one example is tull, the forumer currently running the "forum titles" (not sure that's the name). He should be able to get rep for that specific post (after all it helps others) without people having to find a completely different post to give him rep.
We already have a system that's used to show knowledge of the games (GASPs and sometimes even custom titles), what this should be aimed to do is to highlight reputable forumers (the people who can help you out if you need it, whether it's game related, forum related or something else entirely).
Very well put. The rep system should show your maturity and overall quality of your posts. OT is fine because as you said, we already have GASPs and other titles for people to use to get useful info. Rep should simply reflect what kind of posts you tend to make, with people with good rep contributing to the forum in thoughtful, positive ways, which can be done in any subforum.
It's not about showing knowledge about the forums. It's about making the forums a better place.
Manyolo does have a point. OT has nothing to do with any of the Supercell games. So why do we need a rep system? Popularity is already a thing in OT, we do not need a rep system for that.
But there's another side to the story. The whole point of the rep system, IMO, is to discourage toxicity and to make the forum community a better place. Look at the cesspool of general, and compare it to OT. OT is literally heaven if you compare it that way. We don't need a rep system, because we are already well behaved. We don't need a rep system to encourage that.
Just my 0.2$
So, here's the conclusion that I've drawn outta this whole thing :
The rep. system has a trial run of 60 days. If it's successful, it'll be continued.
The rep.system has been introduced to (according to my observation) provide recognition to helpful and valuable forumers.
The rep. to a poster will be given after deciding the quality, content and value of the post.
According to some people, this will benefit the Forums, and according to some other people, this will result in abuse of the people whose opinions differ from the contents posted by the forumer.
Now, here are some of my doubts :
What will be done if the rep.system fails to click with the forumers?
Will it be removed?
So, if anyone has any suggestions or opinions regarding my post, feel free to express them. I'll be more than happy to rectify my mistakes if I've done any.
Thanks.

How low can I go?
What will be the benefit of the system???
This is a classic lol
so many forums have this and after a week, everyone knows they mean nothing as easy manipulated.
Then ppl forget they are even there lol
Good old Supercell trying to stay hip
Per the announcement on page 1... "It also allows members to show their appreciation/admiration of your posts and give you reputation points. On the flip side, it also allows users to give negative points if your post is not great or if you are being a toxic rudey pants!"
Often we have people who come to the forums and speak for the entire playing community as in "we want this". This system will allow people to either agree or disagree without having to have hundreds of pages of comments and occasional bickering. Imagine what it would have been like last Dec if we had this ability.
Not saying it's good or bad but I do see how it could become a way to "poll" the current atmosphere of the forum without everyone having to make an actual post...
Bad thing is I use mobile site so I can't down vote people. Good thing is I can't see if I get downvoted.
On the positive side it seems to me that this system will not give any special rights, it will just be for "showing off".
However today we already have some wanna-be-Sheriffs running around and I think it will be getting worse. Some people will just be online daily and make use of all their points and have a huge impact on the rating. This could even result in bullying. I think there is a very good reason why facebook (which I actually despise) has only the like button. I think if you are starting a trial, just do it without the negative feedback.
Especially for the negative points, posts in the idea forum should be ignored. As I understand the idea forum is a brainstorming area. If you post an idea, that for some reason is not considered "good" by the always-online-users, you will just crash your rating. Right now without getting feedback from SC the idea forum is already frustrating enough.
reputation system icon walkthrough:
Green: positive reputation (+1)
Red: negative reputation (-1)
Gray: *unknown
can someone explain the Gray icon?
If I remember correctly the"Grey Icon" is for people not eligible to vote yet.
IE-They don't have a high enough post count yet (50 I believe it's the starting point) to use the rep system (it was always like that on previous forums I frequented)
From OP
How does the reputation system work, and what limitations are there?
Everyone starts with 10 reputation points.
Members must have 10 reputation points to be able to affect other people's reputation. In other words - if you have -200 reputation points, you would have to earn back 210 points before you could vote on anyone.
Members must have 50 posts before being able to use the reputation system to vote on other people, however you can still earn reputation while under 50 posts.
Members can only click the reputation button 10 times per 24 hours. Choose wisely!
You must vote on 15 different users before giving reputation to the same person again (This is to help stop people voting up their friends for no reason!)
I believe the grey will change one they hit 50 posts.
Just visited his profile and I see what you mean.
It can't be a neg rep as I don't think it allows you to neg someone without leaving a comment.?
Try it on my post.
Give me a neg rep, but leave no comment martvol(I'm not bothered about the food just want to know what causes the grey. ☺
someone (don't wanna mention) with 8 reputations gave me a gray reputation now, it says no comment made... confused :(
my reputation tab says i got 4 of them (3 Green, 1 Gray) but the total point is 12... may be i'm not clear about this system yet...
honorable mention: Mods (don't wanna say who) explained why one of my Green reputations will not be counted.
I tried to down vote with no comment. It did not go through.
Maybe it does not count of they are under 10 points?
Or it could be one that the mod said would not count is now very.
I do remember the grey icons have always been around with the rep voting system.
Then I think it must be from the person with under 10 points or the one amended by mod/s (The fair play ones, not the banable 3rd party one's)
sounds like a good idea at first glance, it would be nice to be able to have a system to negate all the negativity and comments that are not so productive. In my opinion a forum is for those who are looking for positive feedback to help them or the game, not someone who continues to post just for the sake of posting and being nasty. Hope this works out and we see a positive change.
well, i think there's no gray icon for reputation... it's something like this:
"if someone don't have minimum 10 points and he gives a green or red reputation, the reputation is gonna add to whom he voted... but the system can't (or doesn't) show the red or green because the voter doesn't have enough points to vote, therefore the system comes with gray icon referring no reputation at all, but the vote still counts"
***i can be wrong about this concept :(
The gray icon is from someone who gave you a reputation vote but who does not have 50 forum posts under their belt (hence it doesn't count one way or the other). I'm fairly positive this is the case.
he has 100+ forum posts... so i came out with this concept: https://forum.supercell.com/showthre...=1#post9585210
hope Mods will clear the clouds about this :)
For me it depends where I look. If I click on the notification of a reputation change, it takes me to my settings page, which shows no names.
But, if I go to my profile it shows pretty much the same thing, but this time with names.
There are two types of member who can't affect your reputation - those who have too few posts (50 required) and those whose reputation is too low (I think 10 required).
Either of those trying to give reputation (positive or negative) will result in a gray icon and no actual change to your reputation.
You will also get a gray from anyone under 10 reputation points, according to alexheney. So, it is not just people under 50 posts on the forums.
Ninja'd by Alex. lol
I like this thing. Not only does it gives people like me a reason to post in general, it also has the flaws covered (mostly)
This should be good. Will be very useful, and hopefully not misused.
I thought the intention was to have this be anonymous, but it still isn't. Is this a mistake? Or was I just mistaken
ok I went to my profile but I don't see the reputation tab :/
But according to this thing I have 12 points!
I can see the down/ up votes in settings just not in my profile. No names there though.
Ok I just got a vote notification...what do I do?, I clicked profile and I see no reputation tab
I see a reputation tab for you. I am surprised you can't see it.
thats kinda strange since we all can see your rep tab, what size tablet or phone are you using, are you sure reputation tab isnt below the first tab? That is to say not in line, 1 line lower than my activity/visiter messages?
Your on 14 points now.
edit, if you using a mobile phone, why not close the page, open again and chose desktop version.
Yeah, this is really a little strange. I also saw your votes and I saw that you are on 14 points right now. But I don't know why it's not visible to you, maybe because of the Infractions tab that you said.

That's a really nice feature, well done guys
