Is the downvote thing supposed to be some sort of punishment to dispense out to someone you don't agree with? By all means disagree and debate. But make silly threats?
I've seen several posts threatening this.
I used to be a mod on another site years ago, we kept that feature (negative Rep) for mods only. As it gets abused. Which it is.
It's mostly used to weed out those that are being toxic, or at least that's what I mainly use it for.
Maybe it is not about what you say but rather how you say it. If you believe yo do not deserve it the mods can neutralise it if I understood correctly
Supposed to be for toxic comments. Really is just abused.

The revenge factor is pretty funny about the system. I got revenged by a game specialist after not agreeing with his post for many reasons I gave him a negative it didn't take long for him to not like my comment and give me a negative right back. I have noticed that at least on of the persons responsible for threatening to 'downvote' people's posts has already been banned, I don't know if this was the reason, but the mods here do a pretty good job of policing the trolls.
I believe it is a trial still at this stage and it may need tweaking a bit, but if it helps the mods to identify and weed out the toxic trolls, then I think it could prove to be positive. You never know it might encourage some people to grow up a bit rather than hiding behind a keyboard with no fear of retribution.
Had a quick look myself and the temptation to check on your negative posting in someone's profile can backfire if you are one of the last 10 visitors too!Quote:
