I just think it's far too late in this forums time for a rep system to be introduced.

We are seeing less toxicity but at a cost, we are also losing how people would normally post, in fear of neg rep. Some of the best threads have been the simple "I Agree/Disagree" ones. They will change to the point of people just agreeing in fear or disagreeing if that is the side of the higher rep member (not everyone will do this, but more than enough to make the system control how the threads will go).
So do not like this rep system one bit.

Do I neg rep Alex for constantly multi posting rather than multi quoting(or do I not in fear of neg repping a mod, whom can do a lot worse to me)?
Horrible system and I also hope it is scrapped and that toxicity is dealt with by mods and the reporting system.

P. S. I will not downvote you, just wanted to highlight how wrong it is to downvote someone just because their opinion is different which is exactly what you did with the person you quoted

As I've stated above, it comes down to personal preference on the semantics of the words. To me seeing more than a dozen threads or posts of people posting about their negative rep proves that the forum is full of it. Sure, not the same as lopsided bases, TH snipe removal and other hot topic issues... but imo the one main reason those topics are less lately is because reputation is now the hot button issue. I don't see the forum getting more polite and less toxic like others seem to be saying, I simply see a lull in hot topic threads because this is the hot topic taking all attention. Engineering and masers vs rushers will soon be back in the spotlight when folks get bored of talking about reputation systems.

As for your second comment. You of course have all the data so I can't argue on that point there. I'm glad you folks aren't inundated like I assumed you would be, you have enough to deal with on a daily basis I'd assume.

Third point. Wouldnt balancing reputation be a violation of rule #20? If the reputation gets put in place can folks get infractions for doing so?

Wow, one week after its roll out and this is still going on....., upvote,downvote, no vote, good rep, bad rep, forums are better, forums are being censored, forums are full of misuse of this system and the list goes on. Wouldnt it have been simpler to encourage respectful and intelligent debate to have a mute/disregard button that if x amount of people find toxic or worthless or useless, pick your negative adjective that your off the thread or limited to posting for a few hours, seems a much simpler and quicker system to keep the flow of information whether with or against the majority view flowing.....clash on

Well, I don't disagree with the opinion that the rep system has reduced the number of toxic and trollish posts on the forums. But it has also discouraged many active and intelligent forumers (like me) from expressing their genuine opinion freely for the fear of a negative rep.

I'll give an example. Assume that there's a thread asking about the advantages of different troops. A certain guy answers the question before I can. I also have a similar (not same, similar) opinion about the troops as that xyz guy has, except that I explain it in a more calculative and detailed manner which would definitely prove helpful to the OP. But I get downvoted because xyz guy had already posted about that before me, even though my opinion was more accurate than xyz. After all, you always can't be the first replier to every thread, right? So, I get one dv for my opinion, two dv's and so on, until a red blob appears under my name, stating that my posts are low quality, and no one will value them anymore, even though they are good.

What's the use of the rep system in such a case? What do y'all think about it?

I think it all events out in the end if you contribute with good posts the upvotes will outnumber the downvotes.

I have two down vote on my rep that I don't think belong there. I did not raise a stink about them because the people that gave them were already negative and they basically don't count. So I don't care one way or the other on them. Just so you know, Alex, there are down vote that are wrong you don't know about.

The one you got about punctuation and grammar is pricelessly trivial. You should win some sort of special prize there for having the most pointlessly silly uncountable down vote!

Seriously though, you are pointing to a real issue here in that nearly all members are able to vote, but the price of living in a democracy is that quasi-monkeys are among those who can vote... however I think (or at least hope) that overall there are enough good people using it right that those others just become a bit of background noise in the system.

There will be a lot of members who won't give mods down votes for fear of retaliation from mods. Same could be said for gsap also. I read on someone's rep that they got a negative vote because they gave one to the person who gave them one. Hopefully the reputation system wasn't implemented for self policing but I'm leaning towards that rotten apple. Mods knew how huge the workload is when the signed that NDA. I agree this needs to be scrapped and forum goes back to old way. People are vindictive they!will give bad votes because they received one. Hopefully no mods or gsap were harmed in the making of this post. No rude or toxic thoughts published in my post! If it stays everyone needs to give negative votes to every member including staff, mods and gsap.

Coffeenut, feel free to down vote me. Nothing bad will happen. I happen to think at the end of the day it all evens out and if it doesn't, I'm okay with that too. We are still early in the evaluation. I get that many have concerns. I'm sure those concerns are being heard by the modoerators.
