But some players can form a group, and start DVing everyone else and UVing their own. As the mods won't see every single UV or DV, this leads to misuse of it. Not like someone is going to report getting UVed either.
Plus, mods can't really remove votes. Sure, they can give infractions and bans, but all Sharky could do for me was giving me a UV to compensate. It's fair and all, but it makes it easy for a person to be ganged up on just once, and soon he won't be able to give rep again

They have said it was supposed to be anonymous, but it isn't. I want to down vote someone but I am holding off because they have a following that I think would gang down vote me, so.

Go ahead and do it. Then report it to a mod if they Revenge you.
This is being used as an intimidation tactic, which is not how it was intended to be. Mods need to hand out infractions readily in these 60 days

I have only doenvoted folks for duplicate posts in the wrong subforum.

SC is trying so hard to reduce the player population. Now the forums is doing the same.

It is back to being anonymous for me now. I can't see who voted on me (which is good). It has gone back and forth between me being able to see this and not being able to.

What if the intimidator is a Moderator? How do you report him?

And no, I'm not trying to be funny. I'm dead serious.
Moderators should not be able to down vote anybody, they already have the infraction tool for when it's necessary to use it.

This is sorta fascinating in a warped way, instead of coming to the forums to have intelligent,constructive debate on the ins and outs of a game people are actually focused on this reputation system. Sorta makes me chuckle, off-topic forumers feel excluded, new and old forumers worrying more about how they vote then what they have to say and how they say it. It is sorta highschoolish in my honest opinion, if you post something in a non threatening,respectful way even if it is against the norm who cares what your status or reputation bar indicates. Is that reputation bar going to make your village or villages better, does your reputation bar change you from a 2 to a 3 star attacker....Play nice in the forum sandbox is really the underlying theme here, do you need a reputation bar for that?

I'm going to tell you why it matters.


Let's review this scenario:
You are trying to have a debate over the way of progressing in the game. Your view is not the most widely accepted as the norm in the forum community but it certainly is one of the most effective ones.
Now you are trying to help someone by pointing out your views but since you are not very popular in your thinking many people already down voted you, hence your profile shows your very low reputation. Every time you want to have a healthy discussion now you are being ignored just because your reputation is low. It's prejudice.

I am a long time member at a forum that uses reputation points. It has a purpose but gets abused often, by many. Rep trading is a real thing. Certain groups of people, especially chat threads in off topic areas, will fly up in rep power without having to post a single thing that is on topic, for example.
