Introducing: The Forum Reputation System

I really like the idea of the rep system, though it definitely has its flaws. Too many people have the right to demote simply cause they don't agree with a post or for another reason that doesnt make sense. Hope SC fixes it soon but I still really like the idea tbh

Can someone point me in the direction of an explanation for all this?

I had mixed thoughts on the reputation system when it was announced, but I'm starting to really enjoy it. If your posts are at least somewhat informative, respectful, and/or intelligent then your reputation will eventually rise. The downvotes will not stack up to the upvotes. Best of luck to you.

The ability to up or down vote is completely subjective and so as long as it's not a clear violation of forum rules each user can vote as they see fit, with the caveat being that a down vote requires an explaination the length or content of which is again subjective.

I honestly don't see any problems that are in need of fixing thus far. Can you provide evidence of any?

I leave the ideas on how to fix it to the mods and pic, they already recieve so many ideas and feedback and when the time comes they can go with ripe decision. But overall i agree with the op sentiment on how this forum police irritates others.

Well, some people just takes this system as a power, not as a appreciation system.

Rep is a far better place for wrong subforum than a post. A post wastes everyone's time thinking there is new content. A rep downvote just goes to the OP and does not disrupt everyone.

We just don't need to wake up and realize that we unjustly receive a demotion for our point of views or topics of discussion. We should enjoy writing posts hence the simple freedom of speech at its best.

I feel those that those that are new to the forum who are interested in replying or posting information may deter them from writing further posts if they receive unjustly demotions.

So I feel get rid of this nonsense. Or just leave promotion points only ( make it positive) and get rid of demotion points. No need to make this forum into a poisonous environment by continuing demotion points.

What is your feeling about these reputation points and your experience so far? What do you think needs to change?

If it was the spanser thing, I understand why someone downvoted you for that. I wouldn't, but I understand why someone might. It is posted often and many people incorrectly believe the values found there. Eliminating down votes would make the upvotes pretty useless I think. The system is designed to discourage negative behavior and that doesn't happen without down votes. Look at how the current system is working for you. You point to two down votes that you think weren't correct. Maybe they were or maybe they weren't, but your reputation is still positive because you also received up votes. Personally, I thought originally that we might need a requirement for a certain number of up votes for each down vote, but that was when they said the votes would be anonymous. I no longer think that is needed. The system seems to be working as intended.

Edit: also, I could be wrong but I think a moderator at one point said we shouldn't down vote for posting in the wrong forum, but instead should report it to a moderator to move the thread if they think it is necessary. I didn't go back to search all the original discussion on this topic, but I think I remember seeing that.

Love the idea, and it's really nice! But I feel more people should be aware of the rep system. Sure it's been abused on me, but Idc, great idea and it's going well! I just don't like it on the hay day forums, everyone there is so nice and I feel the downvotes could change that.

I wouldn't worry about some down votes ruining the atmosphere. If anything they'll likely weed out some of the problem posts and make it an even happier place. :)
