Thanks for the help.
FYI mods, erased rep up vote notifications are also erased when a thread is deleted. So that works
Sadly, that was a lot of good rep for me long gone. Or was it? I was quite sleepy when I checked.
Anyhoo, note to self, do not spend time making forum gold when there's a good chance the thread will be 86'ed
I've up voted several people I diagree with, not by accident either, and stated such in the comment. I've up voted based post quality, thoughtfulness of post and/or the passion expressed in the post.
Earlier I up voted a fresh spawn who necro'd an old thread because A) he used the search feature successfully B) made a relevant thoughtful post, but I disagreed with the post itself, and said as much in reply.
People can disagree civilly and give each other a  at the end before walking away, this doesn't need to be any different.
Thanks for clearing that up alex, good to know.
In the case of those who consistently give wrong information in Bugs and Problems, I'd say you should definitely be downvoting. Incorrect information is as clear cut a case for a downvote as it gets. Personally, i wouldn't downvote on just one instance, I'd post a correction at least once and if they then continued I'd downvote. Every time they posted it.
See alex's post that I quoted above. It's just the notifications that disappear, the rep remains.
Perhaps you didn't read my full post. Your this justification is completely different from what you stated in the comment. I was already against this system. One can't vote discussions which have both agreements and disagreements and some people misuse this system by keeping their own view about downvoting just because the friends are involved.
They don't actually give incorrect information. They try to help. But if a person comments in Lost connection issues to check your internet connection, it's your internet, does that person deserve a downvote just because Poster knows less about the subject? Crazy comment it is. I would prefer no comment than giving weak justification.
