Here's a fun fact - people on your ignore list can still down vote you.
I think someone brought that up a few pages ago. It makes sense really. Just because you ignore someone doesn't mean they are ignoring you.
I got downvoted by someone on a post I made about a week prior but they didn't have 50 posts to do it right away. First thing they did after getting the 50 posts was downvote me.
Interesting. Once a person's thread gets deleted any up or down reps associated with what's said in the thread vanishes as well.
it is kind of a fun social experiment
post something about fair play and watch the reputation points come in. the pro-sandbagging folks will down vote, the pro-fair play folks up vote. kinda feels like a reality tv show where you SMS your vote.
however - really though - i've NEVER down voted any one (yet) - i don't see it as a means of disagreeing. i reserve that one for posts that contribute nothing to the conversation.
The reason you are down voted (I assume this is about when I down voted you earlier) is because you keep implying engineering is cheating. Fairplay, something you often quote in your posts, has nothing to do with engineering. It is to do with mods, bots, third party apps, etc. Your implication that Fairplay is directly related to engineering, implies (at least the way I see your posts) that engineering is cheating, which is a lie. I've seen other people tell you this, as well as myself, yet you seem to ignore us and continue doing so.
Essentially, I down voted you because you are spreading misinformation. We here on the forums, are not interested in discussing things via "Alternative Facts". :smirk:
People are absolutely using it as a means to lash out against posts they disagree with. I just respond in kind and watch them self-implode.
Logical actions are not really to be expected when you involve a group of this size. People take their opinions so personally they will lose their minds over a dissenting view. I have found the more controversial the topic the more downvotes for "toxicity" regardless of the actual intent of the post.
Maybe that is the system working as intended? Keeping posts nice and fluffy with no strong opinons one way or the other?
I have also found that there are many mature posters like 2222 who may not share your views but at least look at things objectively and try not to lash out over a difference of opinion. But for every guy like 2222 there are fifty others who just want to attack you by any means necessary.
