People are not supposed to do either of those. The whole point of making comments mandatory for downvotes is so that you can see what it was about your post that caused issues for somebody else. People will be getting warnings/infractions if they give downvotes without meaningful reasons.

Revenge downvotes are also not allowed, but may be hard to police if proper reasons are given.

I got downvoted for saying that they posted in wrong subforum. The downvote i received was for
"Trying to be a mod"

As has been stated, PMimg a mod rather than discussing in a thread is better way to resolve your issue.

However for the sake of discussion it could have been the way you put it too.

Anytime you're concerned about a thread on the wrong sub you can always report it and a mod will handle moving it if needed.

Hope I don't get sow vote now for "Trying to be a mod."

i did pm a mod but they never responded back. I dont blame them because they have alot to do.

I've had better luck with PMing some mods than others. I won't even speculate why that could be, could be a number of reasons, but it is what it is. I would say if you don't get a reply and you do need one, try a different mod after a couple days.

Got my first retaliation down vote today, was about 45 minutes after I submitted one on someone, was on a post that was a week old and the reason was "!" .

Maybe reason need to be /10 chars ��
