How NOT to recruit players to join a clan
Ok, so I have tried many clans and want to share my thoughts on what clans should be doing to recruit players.
When I look at a clan to potentially join, I read their comment section that describes the clan.
I more than likely WILL NOT join If I see:
- No comments or description of the clan - it means to me that you are too lazy, don't care and don't pay attention to details, so why would I join a clan like that? It would probably be chaos.
- Quotas - don't ask me for a minimum donation of troops. Troops cost resources and time, especially when I'm donating level 4's and getting level 1's. If you answer my request for troops, I should reciprocate and vice versa. Simple as that. Then you build trust between members.
- Trophies. Ok, I get it, the more trophies your clan has, you go higher on list of greatest clans in existence, and you can live your elitist dream. Just a thought -wouldn't it be better for all and for the game if all members helped others gain trophies, then you can grow your T-count together and really have that feeling of accomplishment.
- Threats. Ok this is the big one. It's simple, who is going to join a clan that tells you all of the reasons they can't wait to kick you out. If you're that power hungry as a clan leader, just start a clan with friends you know and make it private. Nobody enjoys PLAYING A GAME with a power-hungry dictator.
Also, a thought on elders. I really don't understand how making someone an elder immediately as a recruiting tool means anything. Do you really want everyone to have grant power and kick power? How can you tell clan jumpers from dedicated elders? It makes it more confusing when being a member in a clan like that. On the other hand, why have a clan where no one can ever be an elder? Sounds like a bunch of no fun to me.
Just to be fair, I understand the frustration of clan jumpers and scammers and leeches taking troops then leaving. I'm not sure how you can ever stop that behavior, because look at all of the clans with all the rules, restrictions and quotas and the jumping and scamming still goes on. Also, I know that not everyone will get along or work out in a particular clan - that's fine they can leave or be kicked if necessary, things happen.
In closing, things that I like to see in clan comments are, desire to be the best, have fun, teamwork, friendly and helpful. You can only reach the top with teamwork, trust and friendship. Have fun!
