Need advice on moving to TH9

Hey,
I'm currently a TH8 with almost everything maxed, except for minions.
All of my walls are skulls, my defences and traps are all maxed out, my storages and drills are all done, barb king lv10 etc etc.
However, I've run into one rather large problem.
I've maxed pretty much everything, except minions. My minions are currently lv2. At the moment, my poison spell is upgrading to level 2.
I desperately want to upgrade to TH9 because the game has gotten really quite boring. My storages are full (except my DE storage), my treasury is full and my collector loot is going to waste. Yet, my clan leader insists that I max my minions to lv4 before I upgrade to TH9. This could take up to 10 days. On top of that, the upgrade to TH9 is 10 days long. I'm trying to conserve DE so I can build an archer queen straight away.
I rarely, if ever, use minions in any of my attacks. I don't see the point in upgrading them right now. Are they more useful later on in the game?
What should I do? Should I just go for it and start upgrading to TH9?

dont upgrade minion. when using lavaloon or bam you can use low lvl minion

So disclaimer I farm using only war troops and so does my brother because we do clan wars so if you dont war then just follow the regular farming advice. However you probably still want to upgrade if you only farm and arent in a clan because grabbing Infernos ASAP will save you so much.

I didnt start doing this till TH9 midway but my bro has been farming with War Troops since TH7 (He has Level 4 archers, Gobs, barbs, and Levl 1 Golem, Dragons, Minions, and everything else except for the troops i mention below) He is able to keep 5 builders busy and his research lab constantly busy with no downtime at all. Yes he always gets 100% raided and crushed because his defenses are so weak but in war he always 3 stars his recommended targets with ease.

I recommend you go ahead and upgrade to TH9 ASAP (as in Yesterday), you don't want to wait any longer. Maxing out any Town Hall before 10 is a waste. Then just focus researching only these troops from now on (Loons, Lava Hound, Valkyrie, Giants, Wizards, Healers (if not max)) and keep all your builders busy. Once you have maxed those troops and have 10/10 Heroes then go ahead and upgrade to TH10. After that you can just catch up or keep going to TH11 whichever you wish! So do yourself a favor and just skip BARCH, BAM, and Goblin Knife they are just gonna slow you down.

Remember that th9 takes 10 days or so to upgrade then you have anther so many days for lab to upgrade once you get to th9, I don't see why you can't upgrade your minions while your th is upgrading and then when lab is upgrading, your clan leader can't stop you from upgrading

Minions are useful but you can get by with L2 minions for a long time.

If you are someone who want every aspect of the game go to 8.5. The fun I had with my maxed 8 got better. I take my time and enjoy it lol. And for the minion part mine are lvl 4 and do the task I want them to. Mostly help guide my Aq.

Not sure if this is meant to be sarcasitic or not. But it is wrong. He has already waited too long to upgrade. Somethings are not worth maxing over moving to next Town Hall. Take spring traps for example, the minimal benefit of level 3 springs traps before going to TH10 is not worth the builder time that could be used on more useful buildings or traps.

Also as mentioned above he needs to factor in the 10 days of build time and 5 days of lab upgrade time. That means he can keep the lab busy for a good 2 weeks after clicking TH9 upgrade.

Mine has been maxed almost everything. I moved to town hall level 9 last November. Now I am on the way making history to top max everything. Of course, it takes time. But strong maxed out everything in your town hall makes you stronger. Better results will make you 3 star also in the war battle.

When you say "max everything" do you really mean everything? You maxed Witch, Poison, EQ, spring traps? There are some upgrades that are not that strong, and moving on to a new TH level without them will likely make your attacks stronger faster i.e more 3 stars and allow you to upgrade defenses that give a larger benefit sooner, allowing you to defend better. I believe in saving the worst for last, when it comes to upgrades. If that means somethings won't get upgraded until I am TH11 then that means I am constantly upgrading better things than those maxing "everything" before upgrading.

Edit: If you enjoy the game play at a certain town hall level, and want to max everything because you don't want to move on yet, that is a perfectly fine approach to this game. Just don't tell me that you are stronger for maxing everything when I could skip a TH level ahead of you and get a stronger army and defenses in the same amount of time.
