Everyone here has given great advice, but left one thing out: DE drills. Get those maxed quickly too. They will help out a lot in your effort to upgrade the royals.

This is just upgrades as was questioned, not new purchases. May want to purchase queen and upgrade her right away, crossbows too if war matching isn't a concern.
I think everyone has already given some great advice. Only think i would add apart from both spell factories, clan castle, queen, lab is that once your lab is up decide what farming or war troops you want to use then upgrade them accordingly.
Try to finish eli upgrades as soon as you can and max those de drills.
Then start adding defense and x-bows and work your way thru it.
I have gone and added both x-bows, constantly war as i am in constant warring but not strict clan. Dump all gold to walls and once eli buildings are done then start upping the defense.
Use Crows base and move up to crystal once you have done enough farming for gold and eli in gold level. Dont worry if you will be attacked or not as the loot with bonus is enough to cover up the losses. With X-bows down very early you will keep a lot of max th8, low and mid th9 away from looting.
