You'll find farming easier if you get queen, upgrade cc's, camps, and spell factories. Hopefully you've saved enough gems to gem the time on your spell factories. Laboratory should be upgraded early because it takes so long for upgrades. You may not want to go .5, but you're making life a little harder if you don't prioritize builder time on your offensive upgrades first. And you'll thank yourself later for every hero upgrade you'll squeeze in early.
Even if you don't want 8.5, spell lab, factory, both army camps and queen ( keep her down forever ) is a good option. If you're mostly a farmer, once all camps are done keep queen/king down and start xbows. Leave a builder open for walls if you want and are very active.
If you are not a fan of war then it doesn't really matter. But if war is a big part of the game for you then you need to take your war weight in to account.
When I became a TH9 I had 3 builders focused on clan castle, spell factory and dark spell factory. Then I upgraded collectors and storages and of course camps, barracks and dark barracks. Then eventually traps.
All the while I had a builder focused on heroes exclusively. Then kept my 5th builder free so I could do walls.
I completed all these upgrades and got all walls to lvl 9 before I focused on adding the extra defensive structures.
This way I gave time for my lab to upgrade my war troops and spells, and for my heroes to get stronger, before being paired with stronger opposition in war.
Now I have 3 builders focused on defense, one on heroes and keeping a builder free for walls (Got about 100 lvl 10 walls done now). X-bows will be the last defense I max out.

Max out your BARBS for farming
Whether you go 8.5 or not these items should be done early in th9
lab, spell factory, clan castle
all new traps and walls that are instant
army camps
upgrade both drills to 6, pumps and mines to 12
if you are going 8.5 stay away from x-bows and be wary of other new defenses
if you are not going 8.5 plant the new defenses ASAP and get them to TH8 level as well as doing your xbows and getting them to L3
