11-7 is a big spread though, especially with high or max 11's and/or non-max th7. My clan gets generally good results (aka fair) when we have 1 th11 and 1 or 2 th8's, but the 8's are 55k max th8 and the 11's that we have range from 92-104k, so there's not that big of a spread. But if you have, say, a 107k th11 and a 40k th7 in the same war roster then things can get weird, especially if you have more than 1 of either of them. I strongly recommend keeping to a 3 th spread, with 3.5 th spread pushing it but usually ok...anything over that and, in my experience, the mm just has too much difficulty in finding you a relatively even matchup.
And my evidence is solid. Folkvangr, which you have seen, doesn't allow less than high th8 into clan at all so we've never tempted to put in a 7 or a 6 or whatever to make our number, and you know that we do fine on war matchups when we're not using the 9.5. However, Forum goat herd is the complete opposite, we take everybody, and it's not uncommon for us to have 8 th11, 8 th10, and 5 th7 all on the same roster. Talk about confusing to the mm algorithm...sometimes we get a really good match, but I'd say that at least half the time we get an extreme mismatch one way or the other.
Oh, and the biggest mismatch I've ever seen was with forum goat herd and one of those wide-spread 11-7 wars. We'd won 9 in a row, and the 10th opponent had more 10's and 11's in their bottom half than I've ever seen in a war. Good heroes and troops, too, and they had 5 or 6 serious anchors up top. It was a massacre. When you combine that big spread + a decent winning streak like yours then I'd say that I'm not too surprised that you hit that kind of opponent.
