What makes X-bows so good?

X bows don't intimidate me much its the mortars and wizards that get me well they are over rated in my opinion

Yes, as others have said, DPS, Speed, Cost and Intimidation....

For me I find the sound of Xbows pouring into my troops makes me uneasy...

No other defensive building sound effect unnerves me like the Xbows' does, forcing me to rush, panic or otherwise make me loose my cool when attacking.

So part of the xbows power isn't what it does to my troops, its what it does to *me*....
