This is not a solution to prevent facing engineered clans. Engineered clans are there. They have to match up with someone. It's not like if you have an engineered clan and base and you logged on this last updated and all of a sudden everything was reengineered to be balanced. Or as some would like to think, there are two separate clan war searches and Engineered clans end up in their own search. This is simply saying that Engineered clans are no longer the best advantage in clan war MM, and therefore it's likely that less engineered clans will exist as they adjust their clan to the new "advantage," which is balanced bases. Engineered clans however will exist if the majority of clans continue to play at the style where Engineered clans have an upperhand, which is the .5 style of play.
.5 and Engineered bases exist in the game. You can't change that. They're still in the clan war search. They will likely continue to exist for a long time, even at a disadvantage. What I am talking about is how your clan matches up against them and that by balancing your bases, you will have an advantage over these lopsided clans. And just because your clan isn't as lopsided as the other clan, doesn't mean that gives you an advantage over them. As there are balancing aspects to the algorithm to make up for ANY lopsidedness. Yes, I know you'd like to see your .5 base as being the right and just way to play and therefore should not have any lopsided adjustments applied to it. .5 IS lopsided. It's not AS lopsided as what we classify an engineered base or a defenseless base or an offenseless base, but it's still more lopsided than a balanced base. Also, remember this is the entire clan that is being put through this ringer of a MM algo to match up against an entire clan going through it's own ringer. No two clans are alike and there are SEVERAL factors being applied to each clans to determine how they actually rank and if it's fair to match them. I don't see the MM as trying to give advantages to one style of play or another, but rather trying to provide a fair matchup by taking into account ALL the styles of play and what might be the advantage and disadvantage of those styles of play. As such, certain styles of play are likely to gain the advantage, and I see that advantage going to balanced bases first and engineered (heavily lopsided to offense) second and .5s third. (And in a war, the .5 clans certainly could come out on top because they have better attackers and better base designs.)
Yes changes were made in October to MM. Some would say that update hit .5s the hardest and left engineers alone. I would agree it did affect .5s more than engineers. Yes they were again adjusted in Dec. And yes, I believe that things will continue to change to promote balanced bases having the best advantage in clan wars. I see the dev team making small adjustments each time, allowing time for the players to get on the right path for what works best in the current Clan war matching. Rather than logging on one day to not being able to compete at all in clan wars until your clan spends months upgraded defenses to catch up. And maybe not in the war you're doing right now will you see this, but as updates come, I believe you will see adjustments continue to be made to give clans that run balanced bases through the entire rooster a better advantage. Many Engineered clans have already come out and said they have been drastically affected by the updates starting in October. So even if you're not seeing it, others are. And if you're still being consistently outmatched, look hard at the bases you're running and see what might be the cause of it.
