This is one thing we will agree on. Coming across a properly engineered clan is not fun.

I think the same way and normally it holds true. If you come across engineers you're coming across a group of people who take war very seriously. They're usually going to have good layouts, have a good concept of 3* attack strategies, and they'll maximize their attacks. There's nothing more rewarding than beating this type of clan. Last time we faced one we got our butts kicked. On paper I thought we had a good shot but they ended up beating us handily. It wasn't the MM fault though -- we simply were outplayed.
That's pretty much what I'm saying. In many cases where there is an engineered base below, one or two of those top guys can't perform. The others are probably the same guy that created the engineered account.
Feel free to DM me so I can visit to see this matchup. Unless you've got a weird lineup, it's a much less common thing to see a defenseless TH11 than pre-October for any balanced lineup.
Repeat after me: Offense counts toward war weight.
It's not hidden, it's factored in the equation along with defenses & recent war record. Honestly, SC should just randomly order bases on the map to stop people from thinking defense weight is the only thing that matters. War rosters are like toothpaste tubes. Squeeze at one point & another will bulge.
yes, we're all excited about finding a challenge. on that much we agree
but when you face a properly lopsided clan that has sandbagged the hog-rider out of the war mm system.... well
that seems more like my least favourite scenes from 'The Shawshank Redemption'
now if you'll excuse me, i'm literally the top base in my clan (th9) and i have to attack an offensively maxed out th11 with 4 bows, 2 IT, and the EA. can you hear my joy?
Happy New Year to us -- 5 wars -- 4 against engineered clans
We would really like to face some clans with attacking talents -- not ones who manipulate the war weight so their unskilled members can drop down a couple town halls. OK so your th 8 can take out a th 6 -- big whoop. My 17 y/o could beat up a 5 y/o if I let him. Where is the skill in that??
SC needs to decide whether engineering bases to manipulate war matchmaking or throwing 2 or 3 level 3 town halls in to lower your weight is how the game is intended to be or not.
If SC is OK with this... then clash on. This is a game of strategy. If you lose to a clan that manipulated MM then so be it. You have the option to do it also -just like you have the option to rush your base or to not join wars. Suck it up and move on down the road.
If SC is not OK with this... then they need to fix it.
* Matching TH level to TH level exactly isn't too difficult, but might make searching for opponents extremely long and painful. This is probably not a good idea.
* You could put minimum requirements on town halls that have to be met in order to upgrade to the next level. This would surely eliminate hard core engineering. Not that you couldn't rush, but you just couldn't do it as fast. Some folks don't like this because they want to be able to play and progress however they want.
* You could put each TH into a weight range. This way, an engineered TH11 would have the minimum weight of a TH11 and be matched up to either an upper level TH10 or lower level TH11. This wouldn't affect those who want to rush up and get heroes going... it would just affect wars. This would sort of put pressure on players to upgrade defense/offense to a reasonable level before upgrading TH level... unless you don't war and your are rushing your base for other reasons - in which case you are still able to rush it.
* Apply an equation that looks at all of the THs on the war roster and adds weight to the overall clan if they add obvious lower level THs to bring their war weight down. So, if i had 3 TH11s, 5 TH10s, 5 TH9s and 2 TH3s... i would be penalized in MM by having my overall weight increased by some number established by the equation.
TH sniping was not how SC intended the game to be played... so they removed it. If MM manipulation is not how they intended wars to be played, then just STOP IT! Otherwise, take a stance and tell everyone that it's all part of the fun!
4 out of 5?!?!?! That's a very rough patch.
yes, sandbagging is a big problem these days. it's sad that so many people are uninterested in playing fair. hopefully SC gets on top of it quickly.
seriously! 4 out of 5 - that would bring many of us to hang it up and quit. that's just awful.
