Why matchmaking needs a fix sooner rather than later

I feel very strongly that this is the case. The best-engineered clans do the best job of tricking the mm into thinking that they're all just a bunch of rushers. SC doesn't want to screw up the war scene for the silent majority, which doing things like weighting th at the max of previous th would clearly do. They seem to have done a really good job here lately of squashing permabased .5's and, more recently, dumping th3's at the bottom of your war roster though.

Roster engineering, as in dumping lowbies at the bottom of your war roster, is easy to fix, and it looks like they've already implemented a good solution: just dump them into the pool of highly lopsided war clans. There is currently the perception that base engineering or lowbie roster engineering is a big advantage, but over time as those clans keep getting mismatches they'll stop dumping the lowbies into their wars and start getting fair matches again.

Certainly a well-engineered clan can still get themselves easier wins even with a perfect mm, but I think that the direction we're going will push more and more clans towards being more balanced rather than less, which feels like a good thing.

What is your current win streak? How long did war search take?

I hate to agree with topbtm, but I will say that for every legitimate case of an inexplicable unfair war there are a hundred examples of people who brought an uneven war lineup, or tried some minor roster engineering, or let their search go on too long, or had won 12 in a row and were due for a mismatch, or did something else that caused that skewed matchup.

Ah, now we're getting somewhere.

I hate matching up with unwinnable wars as much as the next guy, but taking responsibility for the bad matches is the easiest way to help to ensure that they won't happen in the future.

The tight th range is much more important in my experience than the actual average base level in my experience. Ie, my lvl 6 clan that I started building as a th4 and semi-retired when I went to th9 was getting extremely even wars whether we were in a th4-6 range or a th7-9 range, and Folkvangr gets extremely even wars now in the mostly th9-10 range.

We call it a "tight th spread", but really it is "tight war weight spread". It's just simpler to leave it as "tight th spread" when linking that thread to so many people who don't really know or care about war weights that I haven't updated the OP. Ie, if you have a 110k weight th11 then you don't want anything less than a minimum th9 or completely max th8 at 55k. I obviously don't know the exact spread there, but in my experience keeping it where the bottom is roughly 1/2 the top keeps you in line. In practice this means that if your top is a couple of new th 11's with 98k weight then you can have a couple 49k weight mid-th8's on the bottom and not be out of whack, thus getting what looks like a 4 th spread into the mix. Or, like my home clan where we often would throw our top th6's into our otherwise th7-9 wars, but our th6's were nearly max and were roughly 1/2 the weight of the top of the roster.

And ur bosses will h8 u, if u ever get hired. People who speak loosely via text or chat are likely to do so in email, in person, and in formal correspondence as well, in my experience. That you are confusing one medium with another is yet another strike.
