Awkwardly Engineered, need advice

Hello fellow Clashers! I am here to ask you all for advice on what to do. I am currently a TH7 and I have done most of my Elixir upgrades, just waiting for dark barracks. My defenses are all below level 5, as shown in the attached pictures.

My plan when I reach TH8 is to skip building any new defenses, and just focus on elixer upgrades again. After elixer upgrades are done, I will upgrade to TH9.

When I reach TH9 I will do my Elixir upgrades.



My question is, when I reach TH9, should I avoid building defenses at all, or should I build all defenses and upgrade them?

Edit: I'm thinking something along the lines of a TH7.25??

You built mortars who are too heavy and useless as defenses. As an engineer, thats not too good.

What exactly is your goal ?

I want to be able to perform in war while keeping my weight down, but I also want to reach TH9 as I have heard that it is the best TH for raiding and war.
