Probably should just wait for kimchi to answer, but from my vantage point the most successful (irritating) engineered clan to be matched up with is the ones with double you th11 at the top of the war map, and 5 to 10 defenseless at the bottom of the map. And in my experience the 20/20/10 heros are just as effective against my traditional clan line up as the 45/45/20 defenseless will be.

So you are right it will be much harder to get and hold the dark elixir, but they don't have to get their heros to that level to be effectively game the MM for a very favorable line up.

To those asking abut how hard it is to get 180k+ de. I was able to farm 40/40/20 heroes but never went after the 45 level when it came out. Just a few weeks ago decided to go for 45 on aq and bk. Currently both heroes down. Would be further along except war gets in the way. My plan is different than kimchilove in that I barch and zap de drills. However both plans will work.

matteliszt: loot retention = harder
kimchilove: progression = easier
Both statements are correct, defenseless bases aren't for everyone. You have to farm them. You can't retain loot relying solely on your collectors, but if you do farm them you can progress really fast.
