Lost All My Game Center Friends :(

I've lost all my lovely Game Center friends. They were there last night, and this morning they're all gone from my list. Facebook pals are still there, but Game Center chums have vanished?

This is makes me very sad as I had lovely friends, and I want them back! *stamps feet*

I had taken a Hay Day sabbatical due to a hectic busy life, but I'm back again but with no friends!

I found 2 on my last helpers tab, and I asked to be their in game friend.

My my friend tag number is #J20GPGPU if anyone here used to be my friend.

Is there any possible way of getting them back, or finding them?

Just a thought--does the icon pop up that shows you are signed in to GC when you opened the game?
sometimes GC signs me out. So I have to open GC and sign in again.

There's some posts around by Ranger describing how to correct a bug in Game Center and make it reconnect itself to Hay Day.

I'm so unhappy Neen! Apparently they can see me, but I can't see them, so I can't help them out. I know this as one of my family is a Game Center friend. I've found some lovely new friends today from this forum, but none of my old friends have seen this. *fingers crossed

Sparkly, I am signed in. My name pops up in the little sign when I open Hay Day. I checked the settings, and I'm definitely signed in. It's strange that my friends were there last night, and gone today, as I have changed nothing. I even downloaded the OS update on the off chance they would come back. Sadly to no avail.

Rbcrewser, I searched that post and tried what he suggested and no luck :( I'm going to try it again. It's strange that they can see me but I can't see them.

Ruby, this happened when Apple pulled the plug on Game Centre. If you search you will find threads on this. If you updated to iOS10, then it's pretty impossible to get your friends back. If you didn't update and are still running iOS9.35, then adding a new picture in the GC ap will bring your friends back, but you have to do this each time you want to play HD.

I have not tried Ranger's fix, as he said in the post that after a short while GC goes wrong, but he didn't explain what he meant by that, and I'm not willing to risk my fragile connection to GC on a fix that causes GC to "go wrong". If you try it and it works, then let us know, please.

Glademaid, it’s all so frustrating. I hate anything ‘beating’ me, so I’ve been online most of the day searching for ways to fix it.


Unfortunately I did update to iOS 10. Had I known that they would change the way Game Centre worked I would maybe have waited.


Ranger’s ‘fix’ is the exact same ‘fix’ that was given out in the Apple forums after the iOS 9.2 update. It was stated it was a temporary fix for people who were getting a ‘blank, white’ Game Centre page. Although it was apparently meant to be a temporary fix, it worked and continued to work for some people.


This is the ‘fix’


– Close all running apps
– Go into airplane mode
– Power off the device
– Power on the device
– Go to settings -> Game Center and log out of the game Center.
– Disable airplane mode and enable wifi
– Log back into Game Center from settings->Game Center


I have tried this a few times now to no avail. My Game Centre has not ‘gone wrong’ It is exactly the same as before - broken with no friends visible in Hay Day.


The most frustrating thing is that my friends can see me and visit my farm, but I can’t see them. My main enjoyment from Hay Day is helping people. It’s why I play the game. I can no longer help my old friends as I can’t see them.

This actually started to happen to me well before iOS 8 even. There were several people on the forums here who I could no longer see while they could see me in their GC. Repeated adding and deleting them when this was still a possibility never solved it either. I just gave up.

I do think a lot of times this issue can be caused by people getting new devices, resetting their device, and other issues that make for tiny changes, e.g. setting it up as a new device even if you use the exact same AppleID and GC name is not always going to yield the same results as restoring a new device from a prior backup of an older device. Even something simple as traveling with your device and have it connect to a foreign AppStore seems to throw it off.

Yeah Rbcrewser, that could be it - miscommunication in the device connecting to Game Centre. I did occasionally have problems in the past with it disconnecting and me losing friends in the process. Never anything on this scale! Every single friend gone.

I've have not changed a thing. Same iPad, same Apple ID. In fact the iPad hasn't left the house since I got it, and no one else is allowed to touch it haha.

I contacted Apple and they said it sounded like someone had used the 'Remove all Game Centre friends' option that is now in Game Centre. This did not happen. Surely if that happened then my friends would not be able to see me!

I'm hoping they all miraculously reappeared in the morning, as quick as they disappeared this morning.

I had all kinds of problems with GC as well: cannot add friends, friends cannot add me, cannot see any friends even though logged in... It would stop working for no apparent reason and work again few days/weeks later :confused: I solved the problem once and for all: I deleted everybody. Plus I really dislike not having control on my friends list (why only one option, delete all friends :confused: ??)

Look at the bright side: HD has just given you an in game friend system! Add me :)

Funny thing is, my iPad Mini has no trouble connecting and displaying my friends on my baby farm, it's my iPad Air 2 that won't connect to HD on my main farm, although it connects quite happily to my other games. Hence, my theory is it's a problem associated with Supercell's coding that effects my iPad Air 2, but not my iPad Mini. Other games have the coding right, but not SC.

I don't think it's Air 2 related because I play on an Air 2 and my GC still works.

Just to note though, whether you're on an original iPad with iOS 5.1.1 and the really old style Game Center, something more recent on iOS 9.x.x with the bubble style Game Center logo and app or anything with iOS 10 and the only option of logging in or out in Settings, you are all accessing the very same Game Center. Nobody has the option of deleting just one person. Nobody can add anyone. At least iOS 10 warns you that they'll all be gone. There is no real benefit not being on iOS 10. You don't have any added functionality. Game Center is what it is. Just because it looks like you can still do something doesn't necessarily mean it is doing anything. And I can state this with conviction having had the foresight to have put a new GC on an old ipad1 after the beta release of ios10 with the accompanying news that GC would be going away. Before updating any device I had to ios10 after the public release I played around with attempting to add or delete people. Deleting one person, erased everyone. Sending invites did nothing, even to those still on 9.x.x And while I could change avatars, obviously nobody could see them so realistically there is no way of knowing what if anything that does other than refresh the GC connection. The exact same result could probably be achieved by changing your GC name and then reverting again.

I cannot upgrade my iPad or my iMac, so the only "advantage" is that I can delete individuals, if I wanted and I guess I can see what and when they last played, if I cared.

There are a few things u can do.

1. Do a complete restore of iPad
2. Update to iOS 10 if u haven't already
3. Go to Apple Store and find an iPad Air 2 and log into GC with it. See if it works on their device.
4. Since ur there, talk to Apple Genius guy
5. Try the "fix" Ranger suggested
6. Add all HD friends through in-game system (the ones u know, at least)

Oh! That is a little scary... I did delete individuals some time ago with success, when I first heard of the impending limitations, but I won't mess with it now.

Well, I just deleted one friend on my daughter's iPad, also not running iOS10 and only 1 was deleted

Yes I must look on the bright side, or I’ll go insane trying to work out why it has happened! I’m loving the in game friend system. It’s a diamond in a load of coal at the minute.

Some of my Hay Day friends on Game Center were there from the beginning with me - 2012, and they were still active.

Not having a way to befriend them again is so sad and frustrating.

I can see why you like to have control over your list. I have never had to de-friend anyone, so I’ve never really needed access to it. I only used it to add people.

I will add you to my precious few friends haha :)

Glademaid, I miss the little springboard icon.

You gave me an idea - I have my farm on an iPad Pro, so I logged into an iPad Air 2 just to see if it changed anything, then logged into an iPad mini, iPhone 6S plus, and an iPod. All with the same result - no friends.

Have you tried logging your main farm into your iPad mini?


Rbcrewser, very interesting. I have an iPad mini 1 with an old OS. I am going to log into it and see what happens. It has the little Game Center logo on it. I’ll try anything at this point haha. I wonder why my friends can see me but I can’t see them, it’s all very strange.

I changed my farm name asking for people to add me again. Hopefully that will help me a tad.


Yes Shepherdgirl, I know people who play on an iPad Air 2 and they haven’t had any problems with Game Center. I had the same result when I logged into one - nada.

So could you see your friends when you logged into the iPad Mini, Ruby? Did you try adding a photo then checking your farm?

This same problem has happened to someone in my NH and despite all the attempts to fix it unfortunately she still does not see any GC friends. We can see her but she cannot see us. It must be very frustrating. Good luck Ruby and please continue to update here.

Isn' t it possible to do an old restore?

Hi, I am the neighbour from Gymgirl and as she said after approx 4 months of useless in game support and posting here and in the bug area, I am close to give up.

There is unfortunately no support from SC and HD is the only game for which GC does not work for me, all others are okay.

There are others like us, but Nick mentioned in one of the threads that none of their IOS devices has this problem, therefore they are not looking into it.

Strange is that after the optional update GC was back for a little time with my GC friends, but once the game reconnected as it does when you do something else, they were gone again

The only way I can try to reconnect is when my GC friends help me and I can go and visit their farm, because then I see the + sign next to their name.
However they need to accept my in game friend request and I know that some find this strange as they can still see me as a GC friend and I am taking up a place of their 100 in game friends.

Wussypuss, sadly I don’t have it. I have macOS Sierra. I guess that’s the equivalent to the iPad 10 OS, meaning they got rid of Game Center as we know it. It does have it in ‘system preferences’ - ‘internet accounts’ but that’s basically just a log in like the iPad. There’s no way to organise or see friends. Thank you for going to the trouble of posting a screen shot. You’re very kind.

I sent 2 friend requests to people I know, and they didn’t receive the request. So I guess that part of Game Center no longer works? Well it doesn’t work for me. I asked them to send a request to me, and I didn’t receive them.


So to sum up - Logging into an older version of OS with Game Centre of old, made no difference. I still can not see my friends but they can see me.


As I said previously I hate things getting the better of me. Sooooo, I then decided to reset the iPad. Guess what……dun dun dun……arrrrrgh…..no difference, still no friends.


Ana, I did try that when I reset the iPad. I restored an older back up, but it made no difference.


Ari, you and I are kindred spirits! Your experience is identical to mine. I could have written your post in regard to the +
sign, and your pals seeing you, and you not seeing them. Sooooo frustrating. I have only been dealing with it a day, so I can imagine you’re at your wits end by now trying to find a solution.

Ari, one thing I did was to follow those friends who showed up in my Last Helpers tab. That is the only time you can follow them by tapping on the ribbon at the top. They then show up in the Friend's tab as followed farms. Better than nothing, though we can only add 10 friends this way.

Ruby, when you logged into your old iPad, did you try adding a photo? Even though no one else can see the avatar, adding a photo brings up your friends. I then click on the Friends bubble and it brings up my Friends, though this can take about a minute - you have to be patient. If you then go into HD, your friends will be there, but without the farm names. However the names do eventually appear as well.

it is MOST DEFINATELY a Supercell problem, even of SC refuse to acknowledge it is and have an annoying "I'm alright, Jack" attitude to their customer's problem. Other games connect to GC perfectly well, only HD has this issue with friends not showing up because GC does not connect properly.

I don't know what most are seeing because I can't upgrade.

My game is now switching between FB names/avatars and GC names/no avatars.

Right now, I am seeing GC names.

I would feel far more comfortable being able to add my GC friends to the in-game friends book! I don't like that my GC friends could disappear at any time... it is like a dark cloud following me.

GladeMaid, I wish I had the option to even follow my old friends :( That's an excellent idea for people who can still do that.

I did not try adding a photo. After I post this reply I will go and try that. I have no choice but to be patient on that iPad mini 1, as it is ever so slow haha. Fingers crossed changing the picture 'triggers' something.

Do you think I should contact Hay Day support? Is it worth my while? I really doubt they'll be able to do anything.




Wussypuss, I thought that was just me - Earlier I was seeing avatars, then they were disappearing, then farmer's names were changing! One person had 3 different names materialise haha.

Something very strange did happen. I accepted a friend request, went to my list to visit the friend's farm and they were gone? This has happened twice. Maybe they both deleted me haha. I didn't even have the chance to visit their farms. I hope they deleted me, and I haven't encountered yet another bug.

I totally agree with you about wanting to add your Game Center friends to your in game friends. I would try and do that asap, just as a safety precaution. I would hate anyone else to lose their friends.

You become accustomed to seeing the same names/faces, and it's nice to get to know people's farming habits. I guess I'm not that good with change, and losing my neighbours was a huge change.

unfortunately the in game support was no help to me at all. Often they closed a communication thread ad I had to start again. I had several screenshots from my and my husbands iPad and GC proofing that GC still tracked every second I played and showing all my friends.
I have several other games , non SC, and we are not allowed to name other games here at the forum, but they work fine.
We cannot add new friends as Apple removed GC, but at least it still works in the background.

So from my point of view it is a SC problem, caused by Apple, but nonetheless other game developers managed to keep it working.

For me the most upsetting thing is that I had been friends with many early players ( from the beginning of the game) which I have now lost, but hey I have a nice neighbourhood and will hopefully make new friends.

Hi Ari, yes I've found the support less than helpful of late. They used to be super helpful a couple of years ago, but the help has gotten more stock replies lately. It's as if we are talking to a computer.


I don't think I'll bother contacting them, they may enrage me haha. GladMaid said the same thing as yourself- other games have no problems, it's just Hay Day with the issues. I have nothing to compare it too.

I think she has pitched a tent in my shop. She buys everything within seconds of me posting. She only leaves what is not open to her at her level. So I apologise if my shop seems fruitless. I'd rather share with everyone, not just one person. It's like I'm making everything for her and no one else - personal shopper!

I had one of those! I tried the block function in the friends book, and she hasn't been seen since.

I sent her a little message in my farm name - 'Plz share Ty' she sent back - 'I do share Ruby' I replied 'You didn't in my shop'

I haven't seen her since. She would win the award for fastest finger in Hay Day haha.

Heavens Ruby, you have such a large and beautiful array of goodies to sell, your ravenous shopper must have not only fast fingers, but the biggest barn around!
