This is well said and bears repeating. This update shows SC's willingness to eviscerate months of players work for the greater good. All that is bought or worked for is just a bunch of 1s and 0s which SC can do with as they please. Buyer beware.

Srsly? The point of a discussion forum is to discuss, unless this is another SC trick. We are discussing. We are also providing opinions and potential solutions, that hopefully with make it to SC's ears, maybe by way of our moderators.
We all know that SC has a laughable track record of communicating to the community, but that won't stop the community from trying to communicate to SC. You as a moderator, can help make sure those messages flow in both directions.
Set aside the rationalizations and minimizations, and you can see that there is an emotional reaction to what is perceived as an insult to SC's most dedicated customers. If I was running this business, I would want to hear about it. Last December wasn't necessarily an insult, but it destroyed the casual player base. Feedback from the community helped mitigate the effect of that destruction, if only a little bit. Help us minimize the impact of this insult, please.
SC handled this extremely terribly. Walls are a big sense of pride for people -- something they can look at to legitimize their efforts in this game versus others. They shouldn't have so nonchalantly reduced that pride for their most hardcore of players.
That being said, the development of mid-level players must be accounted for.
However, SC is way off base in that they see this as a 1 or the other situation. Players who have max walls don't care about the actual walls or resources. They care about their efforts being rewarded. Give them an achievement, a special statute or something unique (and ultimately meaningless) as a nod in their direction.
Instead, all SC did was alienate a large section of players. Terrible move.
There really is no incentive to pay money on this game pre-TH9 and really the only thing I'd consider spending money on at TH9 is hero upgrade time so I can war. The game is just such a long slog and if you buy something new with cash, you are still hopelessly behind a maxed base to the point that you don't even really notice the time savings. I really think SC should rebalance the starting game so that it takes less than a year from the point you start playing to the point where you are at TH9 with capable troops. Right now if you max everything, it takes about a year just to get to TH9, and about 2 years to max everything at TH9 (though the wall discount should help greatly with that). The game is no longer balanced for TH8 and TH9, so expecting players to spend that kind of time there makes no sense. The people whining about the reduced costs had the benefit of playing the game near the top, where it was balanced, while they were grinding. It's ridiculous to expect people to spend 3 years grinding out upgrades on town halls that are too easy.
Well i'd say the chance of receiving something back is pretty high. Supercell just so slow about doing anything!
They gave gems back to players when walls could be ug with elixr
They gave gems back in clash royale when they reduced the amount of cards to max out epics by like 1200 cards
I imagine its just a matter of time :p
I have taken the opportunity to voice my opinion here as on many issues (I'm not very happy with the wall cost reduction just for the record). As a TH 11, and with several max or close to maxed TH 10's in my clan I can say I'm not the only one who feels this way. But it's not just the walls, it's the last couple updates. Players have been asking for hero's to be available in wars while upgrading since wars were introduced (although it will never happen because it's too profitable for SC). We have been asking for daily quest (Masterminds quest) for over 2 years, for modifications to the troop selection menu so you don't have to scroll while attacking, war MM changes to address engineering (minimum weight to TH comes to mind), balance at TH 10 and 11, the list goes on. How long did we scream for them to address modding before they took action and they KNEW it was going on.
All in all this is their game, but the community helped make it what it once was, and what it is today. Honestly how many asked for these changes? Dragons and Pekkas to attack faster, another level of wizard towers, wall reduction, matter of fact everything associated with this update? Maybe they did give us some balance at the higher TH's with the loon change, I will give them credit for that.
Point is, they have a long track record of doing what they want to do, regardless of what the community has been asking for, and yes they are entitled to do it. We as players are also entitled to do what we feel is necessary as a response. That ultimately defines where the game heads. Those TH 10's and 11's in my clan I spoke of earlier, have by far spent the most money in our clan, and since the October update not one of them has spent a dime, including myself. Will that matter to SC? If it's just us, no, but if it's many who feel that way then maybe the answer is yes.
I feel they again have drastically missed what many long term players are asking for. Again that's my opinion, and you may have a different one. But for me, I was hanging by a thread as to whether I will continue to play this game or not. At the moment, most in my clan that I have mentioned earlier feel the same way. Maybe the latest update grows on us, maybe it doesn't time will tell. I honestly have enjoyed this game for well over 3 years, and complement SC for that, it's been a great mobile game and I have built some great relationships over that time. I just hope the thread I'm hanging by doesn't break. My two cents.
Heres the bottom line.........i don't ever want to hear a townhall 10 or below complain that they didn't get anything form this update. This update was a huge windfall to those new and upcoming players. My clan global titans top 10 in usa is already packed at 50.
